True Colours 11: Conclusions - BOOMING03
1.- There are several users who use AI to post and comment. Among them, it is worth mentioning:
The art of finding peace in the everyday (Published 12 days ago)
The rain has that scent of wet earth that transports me back to my childhood. When it rained and we stayed home watching the rain fall, feeling the cool air and the sound of the drops on the roof. That memory brings me peace. (Paragraph No. 2)
Sunrises that heal the soul (Published 9 days ago)
The rain has that scent of wet earth that transports me back to my childhood. When it rained and we stayed home watching the rain fall, feeling the cool air and the sound of the drops on the roof. That memory brings me peace. (Paragraph No. 6)
The post titled “Sunrises that heal the soul” was evaluated by memamun (SC06), who left the following comment:
Hello @jennyburgos
You have written a very good text in your post. However, there are some aspects you could improve. First, you should use the Markdown justification function, which will make your text look neater and more polished.
Second, to ensure each post looks good, you need to include at least three or four images. It would also be best to cite the source of those images.
As you can see, these observations concern the presentation rather than the substance. But that’s not all:
Seven days ago, I read the post The Whisper of the Wind Among the Trees (https://steemit.com/life/@jennyburgos/el-susurro-del-viento-entre-los-arboles-mufi3ati).
I upvoted it with my personal account, but since the user was relatively new, I decided to read her previous posts—and, to my surprise:
This post was a "rehash" of earlier ones:
Rain has that scent of wet earth that transports me back to my childhood. When it rained and we stayed home watching the rain fall, feeling the cool air and hearing the sound of drops on the roof. That memory brings me peace. (Paragraph 13)
I read the post titled "Nature and Its Silent Lessons":
Rain has that scent of wet earth that transports me back to my childhood. When it rained and we stayed home watching the rain fall, feeling the cool air and hearing the sound of drops on the roof. That memory brings me peace. (Paragraph 14)
And I left the following comment:
Why did you repeat the post? This post is identical to this one:
https://steemit.com/life/@jennyburgos/el-susurro-del-viento-entre-los-arboles-mufi3ati
Her reply was as follows:
What a keen eye! That previous post inspired the herbal infusion recipe I tried—it turned out great. This time, I paired it with garlic toast to add my own touch; the flavor still evokes the whisper of the wind you described. So, it’s not an exact repeat, but a variation with a culinary twist.
In response to her reply, I wrote:
My apologies. But you have about four posts in which... ...you address the same points. The titles and photographs vary. These are the details a curator needs to notice. I don't think I need to tell you which posts contain "repeated" content. In fact, you received a vote from @memamun on this post: https://steemit.com/life/@jennyburgos/amaneceres-que-curan-el-alma-mucn7j2x
And here, you repeat the same thing from the post I voted on and commented on. This is just an excerpt:
The smell of wet earth after a storm is my favorite fragrance. It transports me back to childhood, to rainy days when everything moved more slowly. Memory has a curious habit of storing itself through the sense of smell.
NOTE: This user changes the order of the same old paragraphs, titles, and images. I called her out on it, yet she continues to act the same way. Now, in her latest posts, you can see how she capitalizes on the exact same content: "Paraguayan cheese."
There are others like this user who exploit their inexperience on the platform to engage in fraudulent behavior; if "curators" reward this type of post, the situation will spiral out of control.
Speaking of this case, we ask experienced curators and seasoned readers: have you encountered cases like these? Because we have plenty more on our list.
3.- We had an interesting time. The comments increased and those we visited and spoke to became more talkative. Those with a writer's block started to write again.
A community could be lifted with the help of great writers, who indeed continue stories and poems in the comment section. Stories and poems written by real humans.
We saw old Steemians return and be enthusiastic and we welcomed newcomers and showed them the way.
If it comes to commenting we have been very active and not only with our own account. Booming03 received many good replies and we cherish those chats.

All those commenters keeping Steemit alive!
@solperez & @wakeupkitty

There's also a long list of accounts with generated comments. A part of these accounts always show if creative hashtags are used. Not once one of these accouts replied on an answer.
It feels like stalking and it would be good if these accounts would be muted and above are not upvoted.
A blacklist for curators would be good.
What I loved most is the overwhelming amount of replies we always receive as a curator. We can be proud of that and all those great commenters.
I am also proud of you @solperez
It’s fantastic to work with a curator who is interested in writing and art, can think outside the box, is empathetic, and is also willing to put in a bit of extra effort and work, such as filling in the form and carrying out calculations.
All too often, it turns out that even those who have been curators for years have no idea how to fill in the form, have absolutely no clue what the Steemit team wrote in the latest curator announcement, simply because they don’t read, and therefore stick to some old, unwritten rule.
It’s disappointing how few actually seem to be committed, to read and to feel engaged.
You’d expect curators to read and understand what’s written. Unfortunately, this is rarely the case.
I, and those upvoted by True Colours, count ourselves lucky to have someone like you.
Dear Sol, thank you for your hard work over the past few weeks and the fun we shared. You are a born curator: passionate, honest and fair. And you are a superb team-mate.

You make a valid point regarding comments; while it is generally advised not to write too much from the curation account, I believe there should be some "evidence" that the text receiving the vote was actually read—showing that it wasn't just a case of "blind voting."
I reiterate: this is serious work, and it should not be approached irresponsibly.
I wish you success this October. I know the platform's artists will appreciate your support.
You are an extraordinary colleague. Best regards.

As the saying goes in my hometown: "Little by little, the hen fills her crop." These users are receiving votes on both their posts and their comments. In fact, their reputations are on the rise.
Thanks for the recognition. The truth is, this is the kind of work a curator ought to be doing.

This confirms that to be a good curator, the profile shouldn't be based solely on numbers, but also on qualities. All the best, my friend.
Looks like the @jennyburgos account is part of an AI generated content farming operation.
Seeing the same accounts voting all the posts suggests this as well.
If that is the conclusion of community members, then the community should decide if downvotes should be applied to nullify the efforts of the farmers.
Good work from @solperez to highlight this.

That’s right; we have taken action against certain accounts through the Steem Watcher team—specifically those receiving more than $0.02 while posting content from other platforms as if it were their own.
We remain ready to take further action against these accounts.

Excelente.
Saludos!
I congratulate you both kitties, this was a great pair of curation months for True Colours.
Thank you for pointing things out regarding some extrange users who are now everywhere, sometimes I have felt them like a sort of bots. It's important to use the available tools, sometimes several of them and it's very useful to check on some users blogs to get a clearer impression.
Great job. Thank you so much for your service as curators.

Thank you for the mention! I'm so happy to be here and learning from you all. It has been a wonderful journey so far.
You all inspire me to keep writing and growing. With all these amazing contests, I never run out of what to write. In fact, there are so many that I can't even meet up with. 😂
Thanks to you for embracing your job as a human blogger, hahaha.
Thank you for the mention, your passion for writing and art in general is inspiring and an example to everyone here.
My best wishes to you and yours!
Thanks, @ladyaryastark. We need to make honest work fashionable. Best regards.
Gracias, @ladyaryastark. Es necesario poner de moda el trabajo honrado. Un abrazo.

I agree! Hugs and congratulations!
THAT'S a report! It's a pleasure to read the mad truth. And of course Kitty is right to praise you: I also really enjoyed curating alongside you back then, and your high standards for the role can certainly serve as a benchmark!
Thanks, @weisser-rabe. Although Kitty and I don't claim to have a monopoly on the truth, I think this is the kind of report that should be produced—not statistical charts that no one reads.
You were a great teacher to me, too.

Checking every post is totally unrealistic; I only investigate when something looks suspicious and mostly trust my gut. Besides, I also have to check if they are doing a power down.😒
I am Venezuelan, from a small town in Sucre state. I face power outages lasting 6 to 8 hours a day. When I take on curation duties, it shows in my posts because their frequency drops significantly; however, my comment activity increases.
I didn't apply this time because I’m not currently in any club; my financial situation gets tight sometimes, forcing me to make changes. Plus, the power outages are becoming more frequent, and there is no schedule for the cuts. So, to avoid stress or being labeled irresponsible, I decided to wait and see if the electricity situation improves.
Naturally, I don't apply this process of reviewing user posts to people I already know, as I am certain they wouldn't engage in plagiarism, AI usage, or content duplication.
However, I’ve noticed that hardly any curators read or support new users. I gather the reason is that taking the time to review their posts requires more work—as was the case with Jennyburgos.
Mind you, this isn't the only user who resorts to these practices. There are others here—some with a reputation equal to mine—who have made a habit of "duplicating" their content using different titles and images. The reason? Many curators simply do not read.

Electricity... For about 20 years I didn't even know what power outages were, but because of the war, I've been dealing with them for 5 years now. In winter and during the summer heat, the Russians know exactly where and when to strike ((( Last winter we only had electricity for 3–4 hours a day. Winter is coming again, and I don't even want to think about having just a few hours of power once more.
Indeed, new users should be checked more thoroughly. Back when I was on various teams, we were told there were special curators for newcomers, so we skipped them. Still, I did upvote quite a few.
Recently, I saw a user with real photos of themselves—but their diary post text was generated by AI based on those photos. Too bad I forgot the username, maybe we should add such people to a blacklist? I might remember it later, because I was even considering that user for the post of the week. Things like that will be even harder to track
I understand what you're saying, and I agree with you: it is necessary to create a "blacklist," because if we don't address this problem, Steemit might well become overrun with this type of user in the not-too-distant future.
All curation teams maintain a Google Sheet. There’s a database where information about a user's country is pulled from, so we could add an 'info' column to flag it if a user is abusing something. Within a month or two, this database would fill up with data. And if someone accidentally misses a particular user, the sheet will warn about it, and the vote can be removed.
It's a good strategy. The important thing is to do something and not sit idly by.
Mil gracias, Sc08.
