This is used in Africa..., Nigeria to be precise 100% for smoking of fish, crayfish and meat.
As a matter of fact firewood is still used for cooking in the village and few people use it in the city. I learnt 40% are even using it in the city due to high cost of gas.
Your pattern of smoking this is superb, it would make the meat dry well and it won't spoil easily.

This is a great cooking method. I really like smoked meat and fish. But, unfortunately, this is not a very healthy food.
This is a bit surprising, because according to information from the Ukrainian media, Nigeria has significant gas reserves and is a prominent player in the LNG market. This again suggests the idea of corruption 😒.

We are No.1 top oil producing country in Africa, and yet we suffer 10 times more than people who even buy it as they do not have it in their country. Fuel is expensive here.

Firewood is very common in Sri Lanka but our way of cooking is a bit different. Seeing it smoked in a barrel, that's a first for me 😄 Hope your sis-in-law gives it the thumbs up! 🥂
