One Experience Does Not Decide a Nurse’s FuturesteemCreated with Sketch.

Daybook October 9

A nursing career does not have to be a single straight line. One teacher, one unit, one failure, one success, or one role may influence a nurse deeply, but none necessarily defines the entire future. Professional identity can continue to evolve as nurses reinterpret experience, encounter new contexts, and take on different forms of practice. Yet career agency should not be romanticized: people do not encounter the same opportunities or possess the same freedom to act on them. A humane career perspective holds both possibilities at once—professional lives can remain open, and the conditions that make choice possible matter.
