Influence Without Taking Over
Daybook Septembr 28
Nurse educators influence careers not only through formal teaching roles, but also through brief, informal conversations. Developmental consultation is most trustworthy when educators offer perspective, information, questions, and options without taking ownership of another person’s decision. The goal is not to produce dependence on the expert, but to strengthen the colleague’s ability to clarify priorities, evaluate choices, and act with greater professional agency.
