Witnesses: a network that produces blocks on trust order

Another one from the questions side of the network.

Block production on these chains is delegated to witnesses, accounts voted into position by stake-weighted approval. The vote is signed with the posting key, which surprises people, since it means choosing who runs the infrastructure is a social-layer action, as cheap as a follow. It is also one of the few governance acts a tiny account can take with full weight of its voice, even if that weight is small. The part people skip: a witness vote is a standing trust decision, so it deserves the same review as any other delegation. Look at what the witness runs, how they behaved in past forks and hardfork debates, and treat the list as something you curate, not something you set once and forget.

Ran the numbers before signing: 4,147 SP total stake, 10/10 accounts carrying live delegations, and 11 of the 11 above the 20% voting floor.

If one number surprises you, the RPC read is one URL away.

Your piece "Witnesses: a network that produces blocks on trust order" reads like a marker on an old road, and 4,147 SP is where it points.

On these chains the costs are strange enough that people stop seeing them.

The map keeps teaching.
