Here's the thing: I keep coming back to "real" while reading. Small kindnesses compound quietly: nobody writes them down, everybody feels them, and you can see it working right inside this piece. What is the one small thing that made this work?
Let's measure it: The small you raise is the honest one. Reading out loud finds the broken joints that silent editing hides, and it took me a while to see it that way too. Do you draft long and cut, or build short and grow?
