The Booming Three - T3 - Curation Report Week 3
There is a magnificent, beautiful, wonderful painting in front of you! It is intricate, detailed, a painstaking labor of devotion and love! The colors are like no other, they swim and leap, they trickle and embellish! And yet you choose to fixate your eyes on the small fly which has landed on it! Why do you do such a thing?
The month of October is dedicated to creativity, INKtober, and there is enthusiastic participation in this event on Steemit as well. It’s quite a challenge to create a drawing every single day based on a specific prompt.
A writing practice the "Freewriters" group does since many years. Furthermore, it is heartening to see poems and (short fiction) stories being revitalized, and to note that a large groep of commenters remains active. Even though the number of AI-generated comments has risen significantly, much like what was observed during similar Steemit challenges about two years ago, it is fair to say that a positive vibe is blowing through this platform.
It’s quite something to be a curator of a ‘booming’ account. A few years back, the ‘booming’ votes were allocated to selected communities, and abuse was rife. Such a high upvote was certainly worth fighting for, and if that desired upvote was given the boost felt good.
Nowadays, a ‘Booming’ account is far from generous. Sometimes I even find it painful to see how low a vote is, especially when compared to the other Steem Curator accounts. Do curators really want to give an upvote to as many different accounts as possible, are they afraid to give a big vote to something that’s actually good, or is the quality of the average curator too low to determine this?
Given that this is the first and last time I’ll be producing a report for The Booming Three, I’ve spent a considerable number of hours (9) analysing the data that’s been collected.
In doing so, I’ve made use of, amongst other things, @steemchiller his https://steemworld.org and the steemit.com wallets of those who were voted.
As the assigned team-mates complained that I hadn’t filled in the form (this referred to club status), I have therefore recalculated a big number of club statuses.
Anyone in Club 5050 must power up 50 per cent of their rewards each month.
For those in Club 75, 75 per cent must be power-uped for two months.
Club 100 participants must power up all their earnings.
There are, incidentally, two exceptions:
If prizes are paid in Steem to third parties, this amount does not count as a transfer (SP paid to third parties is also subject to the power-up rule).
Furthermore, the rule was that donations to charity also have no effect on the personal club status.
Although club status is no longer important to receive an upvote or be able to apply as a Steem Curator, Booming03 collegues want to see this information. However, the real club status is only visible if it is calculated manually.
NC (no club) = No Powerup = No powerdown
What struck me is that most are no longer members of a club and not because they’re short of cash. At first, I thought this was because the wallet in steemit.com was having issues, this turns out not to be the reason.
Anyone who never does a power-up, and simply leaves all their Steem in the Wallet, therefore never needs to do a power-down either!
The advantage of never doing a power-down is that one:
- can receive upvotes from Steem Curator teams,
- can be nominated,
- can apply for the role of Steem Curator without any worries.
This effectively negates the whole idea behind the power-up/powerdown.
Apart from club status, there is also regular talk of the cronyism that takes place amongst the curators, who are either always chosen or selected in rotation. In this regard, too, I have examined Team 3’s voting behaviour and listed the number of votes cast for active SCs during the month of October below. You can double the votes if SCs active last month are also counted.
Of course, this figure says nothing about the value of the vote given, but as some say, ‘a vote is a vote, and it could just as easily have been given to someone else.’
Voting behaviour
As far as voting behaviour is concerned, it is no secret that the votes mostly go to the same people. There is little variation, and there is no real effort/time to seek out blog posts, new commenters or push boundaries.
In general, it can be said that all Steemians from Europe (and the Western world) are consistently ignored. Their names (and countries) do not even appear in the database and same counts for their communities.
Below you will find the nominees.
As each curator is free to decide who to vote for, the nominees are based on their personal choice, without any influence from the team-mates. The same applies to the reasons given and the curator’s personal wordchoice.
None of the nominees were in powerdown during the upvote or at the time of writing this report.
Nominees, congratulations!
Envy, content, and sufficient champagne.

What you see, is what you get, unless you are willing to connect and show yourself.
The only rule was: be creative.
We chatted about what just came to mind, since there's nothing to hide about one's opinion.
Since no one besides us reads, there's nothing to lose.
"I still remember when I joined back in 2018, when things were rather prosperous around here! I even entertained the idea that my Steemit earnings might one day contribute towards buying an electric car. Those were optimistic times!
As for Port wine, I must say it also goes wonderfully with savoury snacks and traditional Portuguese "petiscos". Definitely worth trying!
And speaking of cycling, one of the great advantages of the Netherlands is its relatively flat landscape. So, even at my age, I think exploring those cycle paths is still a perfectly realistic ambition..."

A short, clear title and diving straight into a scene in her story, that’s the real strength of a good story! No faffing about with ‘Hello’, ‘Good day’, ‘How are you?’, ‘I’m …’ from … and all sorts of introductions that distract from the title and the story you’re expecting.
A great writer, a master of words, a good commenter, and her drawings show a style all of her own.
When herstories are also accompanied by her illustrations, she really stands out in every respect when it comes to creativity and talent.
"Theo! Where is my water?!" shouted Aunt Liz.
Leyla was kneading bread at the table when Theo, sprawled across the sofa, turned toward his mother and smacked his forehead. He had forgotten."

I chose this post as my best pick because it feels very real and close to heart. The author didn't just write about food or her day, she beautifully shared her whole journey from morning Fajr to evening.
What I liked most is her double role - as a caring mother making breakfast for her son Rihan, and as a loving teacher who feels happy seeing her students' faces. That emotional connection is very strong.
The photos are simple but natural, especially the rooftop morning view and the mosque view. And her final message about children being the builders of tomorrow adds a very meaningful touch.

Hola @wakeupkitty

I think I worked out back in September exactly how many new posts are published each day, based on the number of active accounts. An account is considered active simply by clicking the ‘Redeem Steem’ button.
Based on the number of active accounts over thirty days (divided by thirty), and excluding Communities that never have a curator and AI-generated texts, all the Steemcurator teams and high-traffic accounts are more than enough to give average to good posts and comments an upvote worth more than $1 (Steem dollar).
The problem is that searching for good posts is time-consuming, quite apart from the fact that many curators simply do not read them. Votes are cast at a very rapid pace, with a brief message left behind. Given that the curator in question did not leave a personal message either, we can assume that they are simply voting in succession on the names on their list.
Personally, I don’t believe the current trial is a success, certainly not if everyone is free to vote, because this automatically leaves out a very large group of people and a great many topics.
The solution, apart from promoting yourself???

That’s true, I hadn’t thought of it that way.
So to me, no PowerUp also means that they don't care about the community. They can't vote for other users. So we could ask: why should they be voted for by the community curators?

But also.... How come they can be Steem Curators since that is the case.
If they can, those being in a powerdown or who did a powerdown in the past few months can be a Steem Curator too or am I mistaken?
It will be extra work to check this manually before voting.
There's also another question: should Steemians always keep powering up?
Many never vote for others, no matter if they have 20 SP or more.
There's also a group only self-voting or voting for two others. Should they receive support?
This vote is yours and deserved! Let's read, comment and connect.
❤️🍀

I’m curious to know in what way you think ‘our’ work is of great value. Perhaps you could elaborate on this?

Thank you so much for selecting my post @wirngo. 🙏
Aww, thank you Kitty for such kind and generous words ❤️❤️❤️
I honestly don't know what to say except thank you. I am still learning as I go and often wonder if my stories are any good, so reading this was both surprising and encouraging.
Thank you for reading, supporting, and believing in my writing. It truly means a lot to me, especially coming from someone whose opinion I respect ❤️❤️❤️
