Hello Steemians! Being stranded alone on an island for a month might sound like a nightmare to many, but for a software developer and web novel writer like me, it actually sounds like the ultimate, uninterrupted creative retreat. Here are my ultimate survival picks for this 30-day isolation.
1. The Book: Daomu Biji (Tomb Raiders)
My book of choice would be the classic Chinese suspense and adventure masterpiece, Daomu Biji. The intricate plots, ancient mysteries, and extreme survival scenarios in dark, underground tombs would make surviving on a sunny tropical island feel quite safe! More importantly, its masterful pacing and world-building are massive sources of inspiration for my own serialized web novels.
2. The Song: 'Time' by Hans Zimmer
I would bring 'Time' from the Inception soundtrack. This instrumental piece is a pure masterpiece. Imagine sitting on an empty beach, watching the sun dip below the horizon with no one else around, while this epic, swelling music plays. It brings an unparalleled sense of calm and spiritual reflection, instantly putting me in the perfect state of mind for deep meditation.
3. The Movie: Blade Runner 2049
As a huge fan of the cyberpunk genre, this movie is my ultimate visual and philosophical comfort food. The breathtaking neon-drenched cinematography combined with deep themes of isolation, memory, and what it means to be human, would hit completely differently when you are entirely cut off from civilization. It’s a 3-hour journey I could watch repeatedly.
4. The Luxury Item: A Solar-Powered E-Ink Tablet
If I had space for one luxury item, it wouldn't be a fancy bed or gourmet food. It would be a heavy-duty, solar-powered E-ink writing tablet. My mind is constantly spinning with ideas for my ongoing cyberpunk-Cthulhu web novel, Hell's Eye.
