36 Still others had trial of mockings and scourgings, yes, and of chains and imprisonment.
37 They were stoned, they were sawn in two, were tempted, were slain with the sword. They wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins, being destitute, afflicted, tormented—
38 of whom the world was not worthy. They wandered in deserts and mountains, in dens and caves of the earth."
Hebrews 11:36-38 (NKJV)

We could see that through the lives of all the people mentioned in the passage of the Bible, Hebrews 11, they were practical about their walking with God, which was considered as walking by
faith.

They were just following God in obedience to whatever He told them,
believed and concluded that He is faithful, and He would bring to the
fulfilment whatever He had told them. They had seen a glimpse, or tasted a part, of God's faithfulness which made them believe whatever He told them; that such would be brought to the fulfilment. They were simply walking with God, living a normal life in obedience to the things which God had told them.

What these people did, God is expecting the same from whoever claims to be of Him, a believer in Christ Jesus. That is, simply live by the principles of the written word and follow through on whatever God instructed you to do through the Holy Spirit on the inside of you.

People come with different complicated definitions of faith, but faith simply means obedience to whatever God says. That was exactly what the people we read about in the book of Hebrews did. They simply obeyed God when He told them whatever to do.

Abraham is called father of faith today, that was said of him because he simply obeyed whatever God told him to do (Genesis 22:1-3).

When God said, leave your father's land onto the land I will show you, he obeyed: "BY FAITH ABRAHAM OBEYED WHEN HE WAS CALLED TO GO OUT TO THE PLACE WHICH HE WOULD RECEIVE AS AN INHERITANCE. AND HE WENT OUT, NOT KNOWING WHERE HE WAS GOING" (Hebrews 11:8 NKJV).

This same kind of faith, simple obedience, is expected of whoever has pledged his or her allegiance to God through Christ Jesus.

Peace.
