QR code for guest photos, what apps actually work well?

Hey everyone!

I’ve been going down a bit of a rabbit hole trying to figure out the best way to collect photos from guests during our wedding weekend, and there are just way too many options out there. What I’m hoping to do is keep it really simple. Ideally guests can just scan a QR code, take pictures throughout the weekend, like the welcome dinner, cocktail hour, reception, after party, all of that, and have everything upload somewhere automatically like a shared album, Dropbox, or Google Drive without a bunch of extra steps.

I’d really like something that doesn’t require people to download an app or create an account, since I know that tends to stop people from actually using it, especially older family members. I’m also trying to keep costs down, so free or at least inexpensive would be great. I’ve come across things like WedUploader, Guestpix, POV, and even just using a Google Photos album, but it’s hard to tell what actually works well in real life versus what just sounds good on paper.

If you’ve done something like this, I’d love to hear what you used and how it went. Did people actually use it, or did it end up being more of a hassle than expected? Was it easy for guests, or did people get confused? I’m also curious if there’s anything you’d avoid or do differently if you had to do it again. I’m especially interested in the honest feedback, even if something didn’t work out.

I tried WedUploader for a similar event and it worked fine. Most guests scanned the QR and uploaded without issues, even older relatives.

I’ve used EventPixel for a wedding and it handled exactly what you’re describing. Guests scan the QR code, take photos, and everything uploads automatically to the gallery without any app or login. The free tier worked for us, and even older relatives found it easy. No confusion at all.
