Wading through light
This is one of the experiences at the TeamLabs Tokyo museum in Tokyo. It feels dreamy entering this place. You have to take off your shoes as there is a water experience here. The first entry path is dark and normal, but as we walk through, we can start feeling the water beneath and soon you will find yourself ankle deep in water. It's advisable to pull up your pants or wear something short so that the clothes do not get wet.
The water is warm and the it looks milky, I am not sure if it's the light effect or the water is really milky color. It is the projection mapping on water, displaying beautiful colorful fishes swimming around. The water acts as a screen. The room is pitch black and, on the floor, we can see thousands of Koi fish made of light swimming around. It feels so real. This is what is the future of art, where you feel it all real and not just staring at wall pieces in front of you. When you walk around and if the fishes bump into you, they burst in to flowers.
This is a technology of Projectors + infrared tracking + water as a projection surface + real-time generative graphics.
