A day in the life : Day 673

I noticed an interesting change in the technology news today. More companies seem to be talking about AI that can work across different applications instead of keeping it inside one product. The idea is simple. You tell an assistant what you want done, and it figures out which tools it needs to use. It is still early, but I can see why people are interested in it.

My own attempt at automation today was much less successful.

I set a reminder on my phone to do something in the afternoon. The reminder appeared exactly when it was supposed to, which was good. The problem was that I had already done the task in the morning.

So I spent a few minutes wondering why I had written the reminder in the first place.

I deleted it and moved on.

The weather was quite comfortable today. The afternoon was still warm, but the evening had a cooler feel. The seasonal change is becoming noticeable now. I also felt like eating lighter food, so dinner was simple instead of the usual larger meal.

Later, I spent some time looking at the growing number of small AI tools appearing for specific tasks. There seems to be a trend away from one tool trying to do everything. Some are built around writing, some around research, others around images, documents or data. I actually like that approach. A small tool that does one job well can be easier to understand.

The rest of the evening was quiet. I cleaned up a few notifications, made some tea and read for a while.

Nothing particularly exciting happened, but I did get a few things done.

The reminder failed because I had already finished the job.

I suppose that is one kind of successful automation.
