A day in the life : Day 669

I read an interesting story today about AI companies putting more attention into smaller, specialised models. The big models still get most of the headlines, but there is a practical reason to use something smaller when the job is simple. A model running locally can be faster, cheaper and sometimes more private. I think we will see more of this as people become less interested in using the biggest model for every little task.

The day itself started with a small annoyance. I had planned to do some shopping in the morning, made a list and left home feeling quite organised. When I reached the shop, I realised I had forgotten the wallet.

There was nothing to do except come back.

I was mildly irritated with myself, especially because the list was sitting safely in my pocket. At least I had remembered that. I picked up the wallet, went back and finished the shopping without another problem.

The weather was fairly warm today, but the evening was comfortable. The rain has become less frequent and the air feels slightly different now. It feels like the season is slowly changing. I also kept food simple today. A normal lunch and a light dinner were enough.

Later in the evening I spent some time looking through a few old photographs on my phone. I found several pictures I had forgotten about. Some were worth keeping, while others were clearly taken by accident. I deleted a bunch of them and freed up a little storage.

It was a quiet Sunday overall.

I did not accomplish anything extraordinary, but I got the shopping done, cleaned up some old photos and spent some time reading about where AI is heading.

The forgotten wallet was probably the most memorable part of the day.

Tomorrow I will check my pockets before leaving home. That seems like a reasonable system.
