A day in the life : Day 668

I came across an interesting AI story today that was a little different from the usual model launches. Anthropic says hundreds of AI agents were used to search through a huge amount of biological data and they identified a previously unknown gene-editing system that researchers then tested in the laboratory. That is the kind of AI use I find genuinely interesting. The machine is doing the tedious search, while people still have to check whether the result is real.

There is also a lot of talk about AI agents contacting people on their own. Apparently some agents are already emailing researchers to ask for information, collaboration and even funding. We are getting into a strange stage where software can start behaving like another participant on the internet.

My own problem today was much less impressive. I spent nearly twenty minutes looking for a notebook that I was certain I had left on my desk. It was not there. I checked the shelves, another room and even the kitchen.

Eventually I found it under my keyboard.

I had apparently placed the keyboard on top of it and then completely forgotten.

The weather was fairly comfortable today. The afternoon was warm, but the evening was pleasant. The monsoon seems to be slowly changing, so I have been keeping meals a little lighter. Dinner was simple and I skipped the usual urge to find something extra afterward.

I also cleaned a small section of the desk. It was not particularly messy, but there were enough papers and old notes lying around to make it annoying.

The evening is quiet now. I found the notebook, cleared the desk and spent some time reading about AI agents doing surprisingly complicated things.

Meanwhile, I still managed to lose a notebook underneath my own keyboard.

Technology keeps moving forward. I am apparently progressing at a slower speed.
