Most guys over 40 think they’re training their core.
But they may be missing something important.
For years, I believed heavy Squats, Deadlifts, Presses, Cleans, Snatches and other big lifts gave me all the core training I needed.
I was wrong.
And despite doing all of that, I still managed to hurt my lower back.
Kettlebells are fantastic for training your core. But if you’re over 40, spend a lot of time sitting, or have a history of back issues, you may need more specific core training than your kettlebell work provides.
Especially if you want your spine and pelvis to stay stable when you’re lifting.
In this video, I explain:
• Why strong lifts don't necessarily mean a strong core
• Why sitting all day can create problems for your core stability
• The difference between core stabilization, strength and power
• The core exercise I personally suck at the most
• Why the Ab Wheel exposed weaknesses in my own core training
• Why the Hollow Position is so important for mastering the Ab Wheel
• What ā€œdomingā€ or ā€œtentingā€ through the abs can tell you
• Why jumping straight into advanced core exercises can be a mistake
• How rebuilding my Hollow Position made my Presses and Squats feel dramatically easier
And here's the big takeaway:
You're only as strong as your weakest link.
For many guys over 40, that weak link is the core.
If your kettlebell lifts have stalled, your lower back keeps doing too much work, or you've never done specific core stabilization and strength training, this may be the missing piece.
I used the same Hollow Hold progressions and core stabilization work with my clients that helped me rebuild my own core.
You can learn the entire system inside Systematic Core Training For Kettlebells:

You'll get demonstration videos for the stabilization and strength exercises, Hollow Hold progressions, and a flexible training plan that meets you where you are and shows you how to progress.
Build the core first.
Then make everything else stronger.
