SVM Testnet: Network Stability, Validator Recovery & SVM App Progress
The Steem Virtual Machine (SVM) Testnet is currently running stably. Progress has been made in both network performance and the validator recovery workflow, and preparations for broader community testing of the SVM App are moving forward.
Current Network Statistics
| Metric | Current Status |
|---|---|
| Total Blocks Produced | 460,744+ |
| Total Transactions | 19,387 |
| Average Block Time | ~5.3 seconds |
| Active Validators | 8 |
Even after surpassing 460K+ blocks, an average block time of ~5.3 seconds has been maintained.
Active validators are successfully handling:
- Consensus duties
- Bridge attestations
- Oracle price-feed updates
- Continuous block production
This ensures the continued network stability of the SVM Testnet.
Validator Recovery Progress
Recently, several previously jailed validators have successfully used the automated update workflow to:
- Update their nodes
- Resync their nodes
- Regain active validator status
This demonstrates the effectiveness of the SVM's automated recovery workflow.
However, three validators currently remain in a jailed state:

Steps for Jailed Validators
To return to the active validator set, three main steps must be followed.
1. Node Update and Sync
Run the automated script by following the SVM Validator Update Guide:
./update.sh
2. Verify Sync Status
Ensure the node is fully synchronized:
catching_up: false
The node must remain synchronized with the current block height. ---
3. Validator Unjail
Once the node and oracle client have been updated to the latest versions and are fully synced, the unjail transaction can be submitted:
docker exec steemvm-node /root/go/bin/steemvmd tx slashing unjail \
--from <your_moniker> \
--home /root/.steemvm \
--chain-id steemvm \
--gas auto \
--gas-adjustment 1.5 \
--gas-prices 1000000000asteem \
-y
If any issues arise, assistance is available via the SVM operator channels.
4. Next Steps for SVM App and Sherpa Protocol
Consistent network stability is establishing a robust foundation for interaction testing between the SVM App and the Sherpa Protocol.
Development is currently progressing as follows:
Stable Network Infrastructure
↓
Validator Recovery & Participation
↓
Reliable Oracle Data
↓
Sherpa Protocol Interaction Testing
↓
SVM App Broader Community Testing
Stable validator participation plays a crucial role in maintaining the consistency of oracle data used in DeFi contracts.
