The Overwhelming Questions
I am blessed to have a brain that is pretty good at organising thoughts.
I'm also pretty good at looking at a task or a project and being able to almost immediately see all the different steps that have to happen in order for us to get from where we are right now to reaching the resolution or end result we want.
The challenge I am eternally facing is that once I manage to break the problem down into all its component parts I immediately start to become overwhelmed by the sheer scale of it all.
For example, a couple of days ago — starting to feel rather desperate about the relative lack of sales of my artwork online, when that same artwork sells extremely well when presented face to face — I laid out big plan for how to make my artwork significantly more visible on light, with the use of social media and advertising.
The plan was actually kind of fun and challenging to create and lay out, but the actual execution of the plan — as I look at it now — is daunting and feels like a giant roadblock.
I look at it and I have no idea how I'm going to find either the time nor the energy to get it all done.
And I'm not going to entertain those suggestions that come in and say "well, just hire somebody to do it!"
I'm not a millionaire I don't have hundreds or even thousands of dollars to throw around at marketing and promotion. So let's just throw that one right out the window before it even goes anywhere.
This type of scenario has actually been a challenge for me since I was quite young.
I've been very good at identifying and laying out everything that needs to be done in order to achieve something, but then I get stuck behind the idea — whether misplaced, or not — that before I can even get started on anything I'm going to need to spend several months just learning how the program works before I can actually execute it. And by the time I have gone through that burn-in period it's already too late. And because I went through that burn-in period, nothing else got done.
And so, I am now four days into the process of this new promotional campaign for my artwork, I have laid out everything that needs to happen, and I've even made a nice spreadsheet, but virtually nothing is filled in in that spreadsheet over the course of those four days!
Meanwhile I sat here this morning with the idea in my head that I really wanted to get started on this in earnest, today.
But then I faced the reality that what I actually need to work on is something else that's directly income producing, rather than this untested system that is unlikely to be income producing for probably 30-60 days. And the Internet bill is due in a few days, and the car insurance bill is due in a few days more so I have to have money.
So there it sits, again.
In some ways, this is the bane of my existence... and perhaps the primary reason why I have never been able to do better than "just scraping by."
And so it goes...
Thanks got stopping by and have a wonderful Sunday!

I'm inclined to suppose there are some hidden (i.e. unconscious) reasons.
If you like to regard a human person as not to be homogenous at all but instead been put together from some facettes you don't overlook, then you might find out that some of your components (or one of them) has the power to stop you realising this plan (at least at the very moment).
One of those aspects you gave yourself: the need of fast producing income. But there may be others, and I'm thinking of such personality components who like to query and to insist on meaningfulness of living and doing.
Did you ever consider such a possibility?
[edit]
You gave one answer already yourself - the economical/ psychological one.
But I'm pretty sure there is some more in regard to spirituality / philosophy / belief.
