Also common people, sick, ugly ones were painted, back then painters also changed the look of the person. Frequently they only used the model for a certain pose.
The standards for beautiful also change every few years, besides if the fact others see us different from the way we see us.
Interesting way to see it though! I never thought about it like that - that painters back then also edited people just like we use filters now haha.
And it's true, beauty standards really change so fast. Just like the Chinese beauty standard back then where the toes were bound to be small to be considered beautiful, but now nobody does that.
