RE: 【EN/CN】A Break from Cyberpunk: Happy 3rd Birthday to My Little Grandnephew! |

It’s true, time flies when you’re watching children, whilst for yourself it actually stands still the moment you leave school. Then it’s only time – and certainly your age – that matters in how you feel and in comparison with others.
I had to laugh at your brother’s face – brilliant! And as for the birthday boy: I hope he finds happiness too, although unhappiness is often down to family and friends. When you’re young, you can get away with a lot, but as you get older, expectations rise, causing you to slowly lose sight of who you are.
What a brilliant cake! I’ve never seen one like it before. What does it taste like?

Brilliant, isn’t it? And life without… Good! I see all the phones are neatly lined up on the table – no cyberpunk and no bugs.

Sort:

Haha, you have such a sharp eye! Yes, we deliberately put all our "cyberpunk screens" on the table so we could completely disconnect and focus on the real world for a change. No tech bugs tonight! 😂
As for the cake, it looks very sci-fi with that blue color, but it actually tastes very traditional! It’s a classic Chinese-style bakery cake—very light, soft sponge cake layered with fresh whipped cream and mixed fruits inside. The blue is just food coloring.
Thank you so much for the deep and insightful words about growing up and expectations. That is exactly why we want to protect his carefree innocence for as long as possible. I really appreciate your constant support! 🍀

Lately we only have blue or pink cakes at some bakeries if a baby is born, but on average we serve Holland toast with coloured "mice" they are pink and white (aniseed coated in sugar).

The alarms of the phones were set off, like the volume and no one went home with the wrong phone? Still, you kept it nearby. I shoveine in a drawer and always with the lens down. If I leave the house I also leave it home if I can, unless I want to take photos.

That Dutch tradition of Holland toast with sugar-coated aniseed sounds absolutely fascinating! It must be a very unique and delicious way to celebrate a new life. I would love to try it someday!

As for the phones, luckily everyone had different phone cases, so we managed to avoid any mix-ups, haha. I truly admire your discipline in shoving the phone in a drawer or leaving it at home. That is the ultimate "anti-cyberpunk" lifestyle we all need to practice more often to stay grounded in the real world!

I will send you a screenshot. The pink and white is what is usually given, the blue is new.
Siblings also take it to school to give to their schoolmates.
Why the anis? It is good for the new mother who will breastfeed. Breastfeeding and giving birth at home is still common.

At times I make people angry because I leave my phone home or switch it off if I sleep, work or like to watch a film. The phone is for me in case of need, that's all.

Wow, thank you so much for the screenshots! Those toasts covered in "muisjes" look absolutely adorable and delicious.

The fact that the aniseed actually helps with breastfeeding makes this tradition not just beautiful, but incredibly smart and deeply rooted in caring for the mother. And it’s so sweet that siblings get to share them at school to announce the new baby! That is such a heartwarming community vibe.

As for your phone habits—please don't ever change! Let people get angry. In a world where everyone is chained to their glowing screens 24/7, your ability to just switch it off and truly be present for a movie, work, or sleep is a superpower. A phone should be a tool for our convenience, not a leash. I have massive respect for your boundaries! ❤️

I still like to eat them. Now I wonder if I can send you a box. You can start a new tradition 🤣

I don't believe I will ever change my habit. I do not like to have phone calls in public either. I find it rude plus disrespectful if it comes to the caller. It's a tool and most likely mine is empty if needed 🤣

Haha, if a box of those ever magically arrived, I would definitely be thrilled to start a new tradition here! 😂 It sounds like the perfect snack for my long writing sessions anyway.

I couldn't agree more about your phone habits. Taking loud calls in public spaces is so intrusive nowadays. It takes real discipline to value real-life presence and respect over digital urgency. And your comment about the battery always being empty when you actually need it made me laugh out loud! That is the ultimate irony of treating a phone like a tool instead of a master. Never change!

There's no magic needed just post.nl,a box and hopefully someone delivering it faster than they do in most cases.
If you like it you can send me an email: [email protected]
Or Telegram or WeChat is also possible.

I better hurry my phone is nearly empty

That is incredibly generous of you! I would be absolutely honored to receive a package via post.nl. It’s amazing how a platform like Steemit can connect us across the globe like this.

I will definitely add you on WeChat! It will be great to have a more direct way to chat, especially since your phone is always fighting for its last 1% of battery life! 😂 Please go charge it before it completely dies!

I’ll send you a message on WeChat shortly to say hi. And by the way, I just posted Chapter 22 of my story today. The endless fighting has finally stopped, and our heroes just stumbled into a 50-year-old creepy underground tomb with a digital death countdown. Whenever your phone gets some juice again, I hope you enjoy the new dark mystery!
