Before twelve
An hour to twelve,
Mind starts thinking, long and wide,
What to post, what to write,
Before the clock strikes twelve.
Before the day turns to the next,
Finger scrolling, page to page,
Contests, topics, what is there,
Think, thinking to the edge.
Sometimes things come easy,
Sometimes it all hits a roadblock,
Nothing pops, nothing flows,
No light bulb, no nothing.
What to post, what to write,
Mind is simply blank,
Tired, maybe, after a long day,
Can't think of anything.
Scrolling through the prompts,
Still nothing comes,
Mood stays bland,
Just wondering.
Self goal, self target,
Imposed by no one else,
Wondering now,
If it makes any sense at all.
The clock moves closer,
The cursor waits in white,
And all I have tonight
Is this struggle to write.

I thank you for posting with us. At times it feels I promote other communities more than ours. I truly hope we will visible this month. I am so happy you are back and this one is super!
I think you might promote other communities more, but that speaks very highly of you as a person!
On the other hand, I think that those statistics published about posts and comments have the flaw that they also count responses from bot accounts.
In your community I almost never see responses that seem automated (except for those from my automated followers, for which I apologize).
In short, I always prefer quality over quantity!

I like it more if people post their content in communities with a theme, so if one needs certain info, or likes certain topics it can be found back.
I have a community for Tales & Stories but I never liked the fact people can't tell the difference between stories (to me tales, fiction) and just the blah blah blah about their day or life. It was too much work to warn everyone and next mute it. It is like @emmabritt said: it's quiet shocking if you believe to find writers here and mainly see these posts... Or should I say depressing if I take into consideration many are here for so long, Jones courses, challenges and should by now have learned something. The improvement is 👎 and as long it is rewarded nothing will change.
So I rather stay with those few who can write and will write no matter the upvote.
They are for sure also the better commenters, not that this rewards. Have a look at my accounts, those I handle and the comments and next those who became rich "overnight".
Actually I promote something that doesn't seem to work at all ...

I don't know if it's because I use a mobile device, but very few communities appear for me. And their names really don't reflect their content, or maybe they never had any specific content.
Perhaps the problem, as you say, is that voting is a vicious circle; since you win by curating, it doesn't matter if the content is good or not.
Perhaps it's because we are dinosaurs who grew up using dictionaries, books, and encyclopedias, and that reading was one of the forms of entertainment.
My dad, who was born in 1948, tells me that when he was young everyone read... It was very common to read Agatha Christie or romance novels if they were women.
Then television came and killed reading, and now the internet has arrived and I think it has helped to bury reading even further.
I read somewhere that new generations use a minimal number of words in their vocabulary, far fewer than previous generations. Of course, thinking is much more difficult if you don't have a broad vocabulary.
In short, what I mean is that the content we consider not very good is perhaps due to that lack of vocabulary and reading.
Going off on a tangent, I'm tempted to ask my followers for a simultaneous video conference to see how many of them are real. My suspicion is that it's just one person, haha.

I'm guessing some of those 'writers' don't really bother about improving their 'writing' because they just wanted to fill up the page with words and reap the rewards. Like students that are invested in their studies and the ones that rushed to cross the finish line. Diligence and compliance are two different mindsets.

Do you take notes during your non writing time? I do that a lot. So sometimes I would browse through my notes and go on with my day while those things ruminate in the background
I take notes when I want to remember things. Haha. What kind of notes do you take @emmabritt? Is it thoughts that you note down?

When I organized the exquisite corpse , I realized that when I said on Saturday that I would publish it on Sunday, for many people it was already Sunday morning!
In the end, I had to add the time of the prime meridian to my watch so I could at least know when to close the contest!
