Too Shy To Ask
Inside a busy train station, at the ticket gates,
A young man with a backpack stands there,
Everyone else walks through with ease,
But he doesn't.
He taps his card the wrong way,
The gate stays closed.
Too shy to ask for help,
He stands there pretending to be busy,
Hoping it will open by itself,
While people wait behind him.
Finally a small kid walks up,
Taps correctly,
And passes in one second.
Then he realizes,
It was never complicated,
He just needed to ask.

Hahah and it is fitting with the look on his face, though quite far from what I can clearly see. At a glance, it does look like what you described. Haha. Thank you for making me laugh a little at work @beckymia hehe.
I can't relate to this picture at all 😄 just wanted to join the trend
I only know how to pay a biker to take me anywhere
Me at a train station? Where am I even going? 😂
Oh yaaa.. you use bikers! But you did really well not knowing how it feels like to take a train. Hope some day you can have that experience. I on the other hand have not experienced hiring a biker 😂
Such is life, but maybe my definition of biker is different. I don't hire them like you would hire a private driver. I just pay them to take me to the market or anywhere that is not too far.
Maybe I should just say motorcycle, but we call it okada here. It is just a small, quick form of transportation that everyone uses to move around.

And I know you understand haha, just want to be clear ❤️
We really have a lot to lose if we are too shy when it comes to circumstances like this. Just like me, I often rather not ask and not even taking sample food from supermarket promoters.
I actually get the feeling that women are more likely to ask for directions than men, who seem to feel a bit embarrassed if they can’t find their way straight away. I agree with you that you end up losing a lot of information if you just hang about there for a while and don’t know what to do.

This is so real 😊 shyness really does make us miss a lot of good moments without even realizing it. Those supermarket promoters can be so sweet and persuasive though, and the food is actually really good most times. Maybe next time just take a bite, worst case you don't like it, best case you find a new favourite snack ◉‿◉
If it only was shyness, most men do not ask how or what because they feel embarrassed.
I was raised with these words: stupid questions do not exist only stupid answers.
Last week I read in the paper there are courses given how to travel by public transport by volunteers (no costs to pay). I believe this says enough about how complicated it became and what many struggle with.

I really respect that way of thinking. It takes confidence to ask when you don't understand, and many people don't have that.
For me, a good system should be so clear that you don't even need to ask. You should just be able to arrive, see, and go.
The fact that volunteers now have to teach it for free shows the people who designed it forgot about the everyday person.
There’s always a lot going wrong at this station. The problem? These ticket gates are for different transport operators. Sometimes you can go in and out through one gate, whilst other times you can only go in through one and have to exit through another, so this is very confusing for many people who commute to and from work every day. It’s also not always clear how to get through with your bike, as they’re allowed on the train too – provided there’s space, that is. Sometimes there’s also a group of security guards or police at the station, and people are usually asked how it works. Most travellers have a public transport pass onto which they load money to pay, or which they use to pay on account by adding money to the pass – though this system is due to be phased out soon. Personally, I’d prefer to pay with a mobile phone linked to my bank account, but not everyone wants to do that – and I certainly don’t. Just the thought of dropping your phone or losing it… A third option is simply to pay with your debit card, but I don’t think that’s a safe idea either, because when it’s busy, there’s often a crush of large groups all trying to get through those gates, and you could easily lose your debit card.
That sounds really stressful for something you have to deal with every single day.
Transport is meant to make life easier, not add more confusion.
Honestly, I prefer a system where you only risk what you loaded on it, not one where you could lose everything at once.
It indeed is stressful and understandable why people prefer a car above public transport this besides of the fact the prizes are sky high and frequently there are strikes, a leaf in the railway, someone jumped in front of the train, cargo and army trains go first and if course they always claim to work on the most busy railroads, those to the airports included. If you ask me they do that on purpose to make people stof travelling.
