RE: The next sandwich

in CCC • 16 days ago

I once worked as a kitchen attendant in a hotel. I was in charge of the kitchen during my shift. My duties included preparing basic breakfast for guests, microwaving food, and frying chips.

After making sandwiches for more than 20-25 rooms, depending on the day, especially when there was an event like a wedding, some guests wouldn't eat them. I don't like eating bread on an empty stomach — it makes me want to vomit. So I usually kept them for some of the staff who would come to ask me if there were any leftovers. I don't like throwing food away.

The manager complained that it was a waste of resources, so he instructed me to make them on demand. You can try that to see if it works for you.

I didn't like that idea because I always wanted to hand over to the next shift and go home. It was a one-day-on, one-day-off schedule. We were two in charge of the kitchen, one per shift. It could get overwhelming, especially when you had no assistant and everywhere was crowded during celebrations. Everyone would be calling on you, haha.

The lunch packages are ordered and next not picked up, so making on demand is already the case. Whatever is on those sandwiches the customer asked for.

II simply can’t swallow bread. It feels as though a lump of dough gets stuck in my throat and I can’t get it down. My youngest daughter has the same problem. The dog, however, doesn’t. Incidentally, bread is also bad for ducks and other animals. So it’s not necessarily as healthy as it’s always made out to be. I do like the smell, though, and some types of bread make me choke more easily than others. So I’m better off giving it a miss. It also gives me stomach ache.

So it’s not, as @mamamasha pointed out, that I want to lose weight, although I don’t like too many carbohydrates. They’re sugars that make me feel sluggish, and they’re not really healthy.

It's good that you listen to your body and avoid what makes you feel uncomfortable. I also avoid eating bread first thing in the morning. If I do, I feel like vomiting unless I have eaten something else before it.
I experience the same thing as you — I have to force it down with water. It can be so uncomfortable.

Seems we are not the only ones. Can be there's something in the flour or? I see it as a warning. I tried a few times to flush it away with water, but if you already choking in it, that' only makes it worse.

This BOOMING vote is yours and well deserved!

Yes, I understand that feeling. Take care of yourself.
