True Colours 11: Curation Report - BOOMING03 - Week 5
A new month begins today, and that shift is palpable on the platform. As always, we are seeking "solutions" to the prevailing issues here. Everything is driven by a single objective: "To stabilize the currency and improve its market value" and "To ensure fairness in how curators' votes are administered."
Over the past two months (August and September), I had the responsibility of teaming up with wakeupkitty. It wasn't the first time we had worked together. I have said it many times before, and I stand by it: "She is a mentor—and one of the very best." She is the type who lets you take action and only afterwards asks, "Why did you do that?" Consequently, our actions must be backed by a well-reasoned explanation.
In September, we managed the SC09 account and subsequently Booming03 (which focuses on art).
This is the report for Week 5. The nominees were:

"Steemit doesn't just need to distribute rewards across more publications. It needs to recognise what makes a community truly active: creativity, quality, participation, and meaningful connections between its members.
For example, the quality of a photographic publication cannot be evaluated using the same criteria as an opinion article or a literary work. Different forms of creativity deserve different approaches to curation.
According to my latest query to the Steemit API, only around 4,000 users have been active over the past 30 days..."

I was already exhausted from work; it was 11:00 p.m. and there were no cars around, so I called a motorcycle taxi. Everything was normal until the man said, “We’re here.” That’s when I remembered: in my fatigue, I had never actually told him where I lived.
I dismounted the Empire, unsettled. I didn't know what to do, unable to fathom how a complete stranger could know my address. I opened my purse to pay. What if I already sent him a mobile payment and don't remember that either? I wondered. The man turned off the engine and stretched out his long legs as he stepped off the bike...

Congratulations to the nominees @gemamedina and @marcotexeira.
I like to thank everyone for the good reads and talks.
Thank you @solperez for making the report and the end report where the issues we found during our curation time are listed.
🍀❤️
Thank you @wakeupkitty for selecting my comment and for giving visibility to this reflection.
I truly believe that one of Steemit's strengths is the diversity of what people create here. Photography, writing, art and other forms of creative expression do not necessarily communicate in the same way, and perhaps they should not always be discovered or evaluated in exactly the same way either. Cheers :)
You’re absolutely right. And that’s precisely why I’m bringing this up – and why I actually believe there should be curators who specialise in the various themes and therefore know what they’re talking about.
The new curators, the ones starting in October, are free to choose what they vote for, but of course that means we lose the big picture and you can’t be sure that everyone gets a fair go. Let’s be honest: if there are only one or two curators amongst the 15 teams who focus exclusively on art and creative people, that means there won’t be many votes for .... Unlike, for example, thediarygame, where many people vote simply out of convenience.
Perhaps you’d like to take part in my new competition? I think it fits perfectly with what you’ve just described. Do have a look and check this out in the comments section too.

Thanks for your comment; I think it’s worth sharing and nominating, especially as you’ve provided figures, and those are certainly not unimportant.
There are far more votes than there are posts written, or good posts to vote for. So in that respect, the percentage of votes can go up regardless of whether it’s a short piece, a long piece, photography, music, art or a comment.
A super weekend!
I agree that having curators with knowledge and genuine interest in different creative areas can make a real difference, particularly when evaluating content such as photography, art or music.
Your point about the number of votes available compared with the amount of good content is also very interesting. Perhaps there is indeed room to give stronger recognition to quality and creativity when they are found.
And thank you for the invitation to your “Be Yourself” contest. I will definitely take a closer look at it and give some thought to participating.
Have a great weekend too!
It is always a pleasure to work with people who inspire us to be better every day, in every way. Warm regards.

Disfruta tu premio. Un abrazo.
Un abrazo, eres un Sol 🤗
