RE: INKtober #1: Apple

in ᴀʀᴛ & ᴀʀᴛɪꜱᴛꜱ • 2 days ago

This reminds me of the drawing lessons we used to have in this Community, and I think I once drew an apple that turned out a bit hairy – it looked more like a coconut, hahaha. I actually think it turned out really well for a first attempt. So I hope you’ll join in again sometime. And of course, you can also combine drawing by adding a miniature, relic and if it’ it’s prickly, then you’ve got your cactus too.if you ask me you had fun!

Awww thank you Kitty ❣️❣️❣️ I am doubting myself haha. I got really worried when I saw it looked more like a coconut. And you know, when I held the Sharpie, I panicked! I couldn't draw over the pencil for a while until I said to myself, do or die haha. I will attempt the next ones. I am thinking to draw the photos I choose for my freewrites, not sure if it will work.

No way. Everyone can see it's an apple.
Maybe you’ve actually invented a new species or already found your way of drawing.
Your apple looks good, and it’s a myth that an apple is always round. In real life they are not round and there are some really ugly apples in there too.

Most apples are far from perfect; Mother Nature isn’t really concerned with that, but rather with survival, seeking out the light and flavour.
Keep on drawing and experimenting, you can combine drawing + prompts, the two communities, of course.

Yes, you can let your drawing (or a part of it) accompany your freewrite and are free posting something here and there, exactly as you like.

I’m also thinking about creating the drawings myself to go with the texts I write; I’ve tried doing it in the past, but I’ve noticed that when I’m short on time, I don’t really get round to drawing. But who knows perhaps by the end of the month, I will be faster and it won’t feel like so much work anymore. In November there's also a ‘prompt’ challenge, and the aim is to have a book by the end of the month. I’m thinking of doing something creative, less time consuming, perhaps alternating short stories or poems with those prompts. It doesn’t necessarily have to be 2,500 words a day.

I love that so many people are taking part, and it just goes to show: creative writers are creative in so many more ways too.
