Between Competence and Ability

Every teacher must have Competence and Ability. These two terms clearly have their own differences in the field. Competence is the standard of specific skills and knowledge required to perform a particular task well, while ability is a person's general capacity or potential to adapt and perform various tasks.

Every teacher can be said to be competent if they combine several of the following terms: knowledge, skills, attitudes, and behaviors that are measurable to complete a specific task or role. Competence is assessed based on results and mastery in a specific position or job.

Meanwhile, Ability is the basic capacity or potential possessed by a teacher to perform an action or task. Ability focuses on each teacher's overall individual potential to develop and face new challenges in various contexts and situations.

Ability is usually an innate trait or general capacity that is not necessarily tied to formal job standards. This is because each person's abilities certainly vary according to their field of study.

These two things, Ability and Competence, are clearly closely related. Ability is a broader, basic capacity, while Competence is a specific manifestation of that ability, enhanced by knowledge and work attitudes in the field.
