THIS IS INDEED THE CHRIST
TUESDAY 13
“Then they said to the woman, ‘Now we believe, not because of what you said, for we ourselves have heard Him and we know that this is indeed the Christ, the Savior of the world.’”
John 4:42 (NKJV)
READ: John 4:1–42
When someone is initially introduced to Christ or brought to Christ Jesus, the belief and faith of the person would be anchored on what other people have said or told him about Christ Jesus. The faith of that person would be based on what he heard about Christ Jesus and God. However, as the person progresses with God, he also will begin to have direct encounters with God through Christ Jesus by himself.
At such a point, the faith of that person would no longer be based on what he heard about God or Jesus Christ, but
about his own personal encounter with Him. Someone at this point in his relationship and walk with God will be
more steadfast than someone who has not had any direct encounters with God.
Every believer should seek to have a direct encounter with God like what the people of Samaria had with Christ
Jesus. The people said, their faith initially was based on the woman’s testimony about Christ, but now, they also have heard Him speak and teach; they can categorically say that He is the Christ, the Messiah. Seek to know God
through Christ Jesus and have a personal encounter with Him which would have a lasting impact on your life and cause you to be deeply rooted in the faith.
When your faith and commitment in God is still based on your parents’ faith, or your spouse’s faith, or the faith of
the person who invited you to the church or the believers’ gathering; you are yet to be rooted, and you are still on the shaky ground. Thus seek to know God and know Him personally.
Albeit, this is done through being conversant with the Bible and prayer (James 1:22–25), living in line with the
principles learnt from the Bible (2 Corinthians 5:15).
Peace.
Reflect:
• Has your knowledge of Jesus moved from hearsay to personal revelation?
• Who around you still needs to hear from your own mouth that you have found the Christ?
