BEING DISTRACTED WITH MUCH SERVING
EDIFICATION DAILY DEVOTIONAL | TUESDAY 27 OCTOBER 2026
“But Martha was distracted with much serving, and she approached Him and said, ‘Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Therefore tell her to help me.’” — Luke 10:40 (NKJV)
There are many things that can be a distraction to a believer if he is not circumspect. Some of the things that would be a distraction could be legitimate things.
Preparing a meal for Jesus and His entourage to eat is a good thing, but it became a distraction to Martha. Thus, whatever is distracting you from being a student of God’s word should be quitted.
Jesus would have been more satisfied if Martha sat down and listened to His word as Mary did. The primary assignment of every believer is to sit at Jesus’ feet and learn His word. No matter how important what you are doing is, if it is affecting your word intake, your prayer life and communion with God, it is considered a distraction.
