When Discussion Makes Learning Matter
Daybook September 30
Discussion becomes powerful when it does more than make a class lively. Its educational value lies in helping learners care enough to think, speak, compare perspectives, and connect concepts with professional meaning. Emotional engagement should not be confused with emotional intensity. Fear and humiliation can also activate emotion, but they may narrow participation. The goal is safe activation: curiosity, relevance, voice, and reflection within a clear conceptual structure.
