What Looks Effortless Was Built Over Time
Daybook October 6
Expertise often looks simple because much of the complexity has been compressed by years of experience. Skilled educators and clinicians recognize patterns, select cues, and make judgments that may no longer feel effortful to them. For learners, however, those hidden processes must often be unpacked. Good teaching does not merely demonstrate an expert answer; it makes visible the observations, judgments, errors, practice, and reasoning that produced it.
