Pause, Re-Center, Then Decide
Daybook October 5
A pause is not the opposite of action. In difficult situations, a brief pause can create enough cognitive and emotional space to reorient attention toward the person, purpose, and priority of care. The goal is not to slow every response, but to interrupt unnecessary reactivity. In emergencies, action may need to be immediate; in learning and many interpersonal situations, even a few seconds can help separate emotion from purpose, notice from assumption, and priority from noise.
