Nurture Competence, Model Trustworthiness
Daybook September 23
Nursing education carries a double responsibility: protect patients today and prepare nurses who can protect patients tomorrow. This requires more than transferring knowledge. Educators must know learners’ starting points, nurture development through supported challenge, progressively expand judgment and agency, and model the trustworthiness they expect from future nurses. Competence without dignity can become domination; kindness without standards can become neglect. Trustworthy education holds both.
