The art of cooking
One thing I do not like doing is cooking on a daily basis. Once in a way when I have guests or it's s special occasion I like to step into the kitchen and make a special dish, but on a day-to-day basis I do not enjoy the activity of cooking. I find it tedious and stressful. While cooking is a very good activity, but because I do not enjoy, I feel that it takes away all my positive energy at the beginning of the day and leaves me exhausted by the time I finish and then I can barely do anything else. I know for someone who enjoys cooking it is the opposite, they feel energized after it.
At the same time, when I make a special dish, I feel very accomplished and satisfied. I feel like I have achieved something very big. As much as I do not enjoy cooking, I enjoy watching all the cooking shows and also following them. MasterCheff is my favorite. Hubby always makes fun of me saying, you do not cook, then why do you watch. Which is to an extent true also. I like to watch the variety of ingredients they use, how they plate the dish, with so much skill they prepare the dish.
My mother-in-law was an amazing cook. We stayed together and I never had to worry about food. It was always ready for me. Evening when I would return from work, food used to be ready, and it was always delicious. Sadly, I could not get her skills, it was a hectic routine back then and then weekend would get over tending to other household chores. She would always say, you go easy on cooking, I am there. I wish I had learned more from her, because I really miss her food, and I know that I can never get it now.
Cooking is a skill, which not everyone has, some people are gifted with this skill. It's not everyone's cup of tea. These days it does not end on cooking; it's also the presentation that matters.
Thank you for visiting my blog. 👼🏻👼🏻💖💖🌹🌺🌸
I totally get that routine burnout from daily cooking. It is funny how watching shows like MasterChef can be so entertaining even if you have zero desire to actually make the dishes yourself.
You are right, watching it makes us feel sometimes like as if we ourselves are chefs
