My Favorite Fruit: Fresh and Raw Dates

in WorldBites • 4 days ago (edited)

Have you ever tasted raw dates?

Until now I had only known the dried, syrupy dates from markets and supermarkets, including ones from the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, Morocco, Egypt and Algeria.

Each has its own taste, size and shape, and all are delicious.

I still remember when my sister bought fresh dates in the capital city and gave me some to taste at my restaurant.

I was simply wowed. They are less sweet than dried dates, yet still syrupy, with crunchy flesh a little like a green apple, but very sweet.

They are slightly sticky and about the size of an apricot.

They can be eaten raw or cooked, and go well in meat stews and smoothies.

I advise eating them on their own for the most benefits. Dates do not grow in my country; these were imported from Saudi Arabia.

Half a kilo cost my sister around 8 dollars, quite expensive, but worth it!

Hola amigo chef. A mi mama también le encantan los dátiles, siempre que tiene la oportunidad los compra. Primera vez que los veo así, mayormente los veo en maniceras y con otro color.
