Hello my dear Steemians,

When I see this painting it reminds me the time when my grandmother was telling me the stories about the old time, how it was in her village. My grandmother was a young woman and she since her teenage age had to help at home her mother. Actually she said that normally they were collecting bigger stuff like bed sheets and large clothes they waited for the time when there was nice weather. I was thinking maybe because then they just enjoy nice weather but I then found that in old time doing washing at the side of the river it is not only because of running water in canal of river but also after washing, they could spread the clothes on grass, so that it dries up under the sun. That is why washing usually happen early morning.

Actually it was also a lot of fun because any people from the village were going together to river to do their washing. The women were sitting and chatting, some news about the people who live in village, about their children and also if there are some events happened, may be wedding, birthdays but also to the times of autumn it was harvesting and also celebrating harvest time together.

My grandmother was very hard working and she always was there to help other women especially for elderly women, she then was spoiled with delicious food after he work is done. Actually after that women were sitting and chatting on valley because it was time when they were waiting till washings are dried up. When the washings dried up then it was time to go back home. Often they also went together home. It was almost like adventure or maybe picnic where they spend time with good friends. Maybe that is why it was not very exhausting but very satisfying.

Hi @solperez, it is nice to hear from you and it made me smile to read that your memories completely reflect mine. Maybe that is a reason why people can settle everywhere because despite of us speaking different languages we are all the same.

I always remember the warning the most experienced women gave: "Put your small undergarments in the washbasin; the river is a sneaky thief," hehe.

When I read that it also reminded me how sometimes women go back home and will find that one or another clothes is gone 😉

Have a nice day!

Jajaja.
