There's Always Something Interesting — the View From Somewhere Else!
It has been a while since I have done a photography post... to show some of the amazing views in nature. No "sweeping vistas" here — instead, I'd like to share some of the "Innerscapes" I often capture in photos... some of them quite inadvertently.
The fun about macros is that you often can't quite see what's there till you get home and look at the photos on the Big Screen.
Take this amazingly bright "pom-pom." This is actually a close-up of the flower of common chives. Yes, the onion-like plant we put on salads and such.
Then there's this:
We all know a cactus can be pretty spiny... but did you know the spines on many cacti are actually textured and grow in ways not dissimilar to the horns on animals like goats and gazelles?
Then there's this amazing desert landscape:
Actually the end of a small driftwood twig I saw on the beach. What you're looking at there is no more than maybe 1 1/2" (35mm) wide. Interesting how a different look at something changes your perspective!
Of course, I don't always get so close you can't tell what we're looking at. Mostly, I just try to capture the beauty of things like the heart of one of the camellia flowers on the bush in out garden... layers and layers of rich pink petals.
Or a small cactus flower in the California high desert... with tiny desert spiderwebs. Looks like a whole different world.
Nature fascinates me... which is why all my posts tend to be illustrated with what I see in the world around me, rather than "stock" photos from the web.
Yes, all the photos are mine. I have tens of thousands of them, here on my computer.
Thanks for allowing me to share a little of the inner worlds around us with you!

I love looking at other photographers photos, how they see the world, what catches the eye. Your photos are beautiful.
Good God Man...!! When do you ever sleep...??!!
Oh..... sorry. I was talking to myself out loud with my fingers.....lol
Great post as usuall.
I have always put photos with what I post. Some people only stop to look at the Pics. I am guilty of that at times. But sometimes the photo stops me long enough to read the post.
True Story......
