Hello my dear Steemians,

Today I wanted to write for the topic of Disease Surveillance, that sounds very scientific terminology let us see what does it mean. When we think about disease it could be related to many different area:

• in the first instance we, human interested in our own health, hazards to health of individuals or public. There are many different diseases, some of the contagious and can be easily spread but many of those disease are not very dangerous. For example we see seasonal flu and that it is recommended to have vaccination especially among elderly, frail population to prevent their illnesses and make sure that our grandparents would remain healthy over cold time.

• when we think about environment and agriculture we need to make sure that our crops, vegetations, food that is grown on farmer fields are healthy. If the soils and plants are healthy then we could produce healthy products for our communities.

There is a certain organisation that regular check the condition of our fields, soil but also our plants trees and vegetables and crops if they are healthy or if they suffer from any diseases. If anything is detected then the surrounding farms will be also controlled to limit the spread and treat as easy as possible.

The same is related to the cattle that sometimes can be affected by diseases and some of disease outbreak can be spread to human like:

• avian flu, which is sometimes goes very heavy to human and that is why when such outbreak is then the farms instructed to get rid of diseased birds

• another infection that we, had a big outbreak in the pass in UK is called in folk’s mouth “Mad Cow disease” or Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJD) which is fatal disease for human that will cause damage of brain and that was in UK in 1980-90’s, many farmers also had to kill their cattle.

Because of that danger of health to human they are under control by Health Ministry and they have so called Disease Surveillance.
