In a dense forest lived a cute elephant. His name was Moti. He was some different from the other elephants. While the other animals spent their time playing, eating and resting. Moti had a passion for collecting small objects. Sometimes he would pick up a flower that had fallen from a tree. At other times, he would keep a bird’s feather he had found. Well perhaps a twig from a broken nest. His mother would often laugh and ask, "Moti, what will you do with all these things?" Moti would smile and reply, "Mother, there is a story behind everything."

Moti would often sit beneath a large tree in the forest. Looking over his collection. He remembered exactly where he had found each item. What had happened at that moment. One day he finds a small blue feather. It belonged to a little bird. That had been blown far away from its nest by a strong gust of wind. When Moti returned. The feather to the bird. It was overjoyed. From that day on. The two became friends.

Some time later the forest experienced an intense heatwave. There is no rain. The water in the stream began to recede. The animals grew anxious. The leaves on the trees started to wither. Well smaller animals began traveling long distances in search of water. Moti overheard his mother say that if it didn't rain soon. Everyone would face great hardship.

Moti also set out in search of water. Along the way he encountered a small turtle sitting by a rock in the scorching sun. The turtle was exhausted. He could no longer continue on its journey. Moti gently lifted turtle with his trunk. He carried it to the shade of a large tree. The turtle thanked him. And explained that for several days. It had been searching for a place. Where there might be water underground. Moti asked "How will you know if there is water beneath the ground?" The turtle replied. "In some places the soil remains cool. Even small plants there do not wither. Perhaps we might find such a spot." Moti liked this idea very much. He thought that. If they searched together. They might be able to find water for the forest.

The two set off. After traveling some distance. They encountered a small bird who was searching for water for her chicks. Moti recognized her. She was the very same bird to whom he had returned a blue feather a few days earlier. The bird mentioned that she had seen. A spot in another part of the forest. Well where the ground was still damp. Moti asked for directions. He was accompanied by his friend. He reached fine location.

The ground there was indeed slightly moist. Moti cleared away the soil with his trunk. It revealing the cool earth underneath. He felt hopeful that water might be found here. Since he could not dig the ground on his own. He decided to call upon the other animals of the forest.

The next morning Moti went to the other animals. And explained the situation. Some believed him. While others laughed. A monkey remarked "You are so small. How could you possibly provide us with water?" Although Moti felt hurt. He did not lose heart. He said "I cannot do it alone. Well if we all work together. We might just succeed."

Hearing this some of the animals decided to join him. The elephants cleared away. The soil with their feet and trunks. The monkeys pushed aside small branches. The rabbits began digging. The soft earth with their paws. Everyone worked very hard together. Several hours passed. Well there was no sign of water. Some of the animals feeling exhausted began to turn back.

Moti was tired too. Well he remembered his mother’s words: one should never lose heart during difficult times. He said to the others. "Let’s try for just a little while longer. If we do not find water. We can look elsewhere." The animals resumed their work.

Suddenly a small stream of water. Began to emerge from the ground. The animals shouted with joy. Moti used his trunk. To clear away more soil. The water began to flow out even faster. Before long water started to collect there. The animals drank their fill. And even took some back for their young ones. Days later the faces of all the animals. In the forest were beaming with happiness.

From that day on. Moti became a favorite among everyone. No one teased him anymore. Everyone realized that even a small effort could lead to a significant outcome. Moti kept the items he had collected safe beneath that same large tree. He also planted a small sapling there. He watering it daily and waiting for it to grow.

Many years went by. The sapling grew into a large tree. Birds began building nests in its branches. The animals would rest in its shade. Whenever Moti sat beneath the tree. He would recall the day they had all worked together to find water.

Moti had grown up. Well his heart remained as gentle as ever. Even now, he continued to collect small trinkets. Well he had come to a profound realization. The most precious things in life are not those we keep for ourselves. Well rather the things we do for others.

One day a baby elephant in the forest became separated from its mother. The little one is crying bitterly. He would not speak to anyone. Moti sat the baby down beside him. He gave it some water. He asked about its mother. With help of other animals. He began searching for her. Before long, they found the mother near a bush. Upon seeing her, the baby elephant ran toward her, filled with joy. Watching this, Moti smiled. He now understood that helping others is the greatest source of happiness.

From that day on. Moti did not just collect mementos. He also performed a good deed every single day. The animals of the forest grew very fond of him. He would often remind them that being small is not a weakness. If one possesses courage in their heart and a desire to help others. Even a small animal can accomplish great things.
