Pick and Write [Agricultural Word]👉#40
Hello, friends, welcome to my post in which I have discussed "Pick and Write [Agricultural Word]" as part of my participation in this contest
No-Till Farming
Sometimes I am surprised whenever I find crops growing so well on land that is not tilled or where the soil is not disturbed. Waterleaf, maize and other crops are what I do see growing on a soil that is not tilled mostly in raining season.
That, about that, I would say is what no-till farming means. Sometimes erosion can wash crops to another land, and the crop would grow perfectly well. Examples are things that are found in the forest. Like in Nigeria, when you enter the bush, you will find palm trees, mango trees, and pineapple growing on soil that is not tilled.
Having said that, No-till farming is a practice in agriculture whereby crops are grown in soil without disturbing it through traditional tilling or plowing. Instead of farmers tilling the soil, they make use of specialised seeders to plant crops directly in the soil without them disturbing the soil.
Benefits:
The benefits of No-till farming are as follows:
- It prevents topsoil loss through wind erosion and water.
- No-till farming helps to improve water retention.
- No-till farming reduces machinery hours by cutting down on the use of tractors.
There are many other benefits, but let's stick to these benefits for now.
