The process of planting the trees in that area where the forests have lost due to the process of deforestation, and fur to the natural disaster is called as the reforestation. The process of reforestation focuses on restoration of the plants that have been forested previously.

While on the other hand the process of afforestation involves the creation of the plants in such areas where the forestation have not been existed. The process of reforestation is very significant to combat the changes in the climate, restoration of the biodiversity and also in the stabilisation of the local environment.

The process of reforestation serves as a primary method for the sequestration of the carbon. The trees are the natural carbon sinkers , these absorb the carbon dioxide from the atmosphere during the process of the photosynthesis.if we increase the rate of the reforestation, this process is helpful to mitigate the effects of greenhouse and in this way the rate of the global warming can be reduced.

The reforestation facilities the process of transpiration which is effective to add the moisture to our atmosphere and in this way this is very significant to contribute the patterns of the local rainfall. While on the other hand the root system of the plants is helpful in the regulation of the level of the groundwater and in this way this can prevent the erosion of the soil.

From a biodiversity point of view, the reforestation is important for the restoration of the habitat. When there is clearance of the forests the countless species of the birds, insects and many other organisms lose their habitat and also lose their sources of the food. The replanting of the trees which is called as the reforestation is very helpful to restore the habitat of the many species, this connection is very important for their survival.

The reforestation plays an important role in the field of the agriculture in supporting the sustainable agriculture through the stabilisation of conditions of the environment which are necessary for the production of the crops.
