Deforestation

Deforestation is the permanent extraction of the forests and the subsequent loss of the tree covers, usually driven by the human activities such as agriculture, logging and infrastructure expansion. While on the other hand some forests loss occurs through natural disasters such as disease or the wildfires , the huge majority of modern deforestation is a result of commercial and industrial demands. This process does not only involve the loss of the trees individually, it represents the systematic deconstructing of the complex ecosystem that are vital to the biological and the atmospheric stability of the planet.

One of the most instant and destructive impacts of the deforestation is the loss of the biodiversity. The forests provide habitat for the majority of the world's terrestrial species. When the large area of the forests are removed, countless plants and the animals lose their homes, the sources of food and the breeding grounds.

The rapid loss of the forests leads to a rapid reduction in the number of the population and in many cases the permanent extinction occurs. The loss of a single species due to the loss of the habitat can cause a domino effect and it can destabilize the entire good chain and it can decrease the resilience of the remaining ecosystem.

The deforestation is a major cause in the chance of the climate. The trees act as the natural absorber of the carbon dioxide, they absorb the carbon dioxide from the environment through the process of the photosynthesis.

The carbon dioxide in the trees which is stored released into the ecosystem after when the forests cleared and ultimately this can increase the concentration of the green house gases.

Have a good day.

What I liked the point about trees absorbing carbon dioxide. Losing large areas of forest means losing an important natural way of reducing carbon in the atmosphere, so deforestation can affect both wildlife and the climate. 🌳
