Now after going over all these weeks terms I must say, the cheapest, easiest and the most practical way to get any farm work done for farmers is Mulching. This is a very useful method and the fabulous to be used in a commercial farm or home farm.
What is mulching?
Mulching is a covering of some type of material, which is placed on the soil surface, against the base of your plants. Material can be of natural (dry leaves, grass, straw, wood chips, compost and other similar substances) or synthetic (plasma, sheet, textiles) origin. All of this can be used for different purposes, but natural mulches are most often used to benefit the soil during the decomposition process.
The advantages of mulching include:
Moisture Retention:* The mulch act as a sun screen so the sun's heat will not evaporate your moisture nearly as much, therefore increasing the amount of time your moisture stays in your root zone.
- Weed Control Mulch can prevent sunlight from reaching weed seeds that are starting to grow. It prevents weeds from getting an early start to your plants for water, fertilizer and space to grow.
Temperature control:* blocks the heat and cold creating a barrier on top which provides you the same insulation under the ground as a blanket would under your body.
Prevents erosion* of the soil - Holds back the topsoil from being displaced by rain and wind.
The application rate is also a key to good results. These treatments are most effective when applied as a 2-3 inch application (leave room for movement at the base of stems so they will not rot).
A little mulching can be everything Keep weeds effectively in check, stop excess moisture escaping and maintain healthy soils with a few simple techniques. A little mulching can go a long way towards The future of farming - cut water use, protect healthy soils and boost plant growth, without breaking a sweat.
