Good day everyone, today I am here again as I give you my views concerning the term pollination. Pollination is a biological process through which pollen grains move from the anther to the stigma of the same flower or flower of a similar species.

Explain in detail the term "Pollination"

Pollination is the movement of pollen grains from the male reproductive system (anther) to the female reproductive system (stigma) of the same flower or flower of a similar species. This is one of the very important processes in the reproduction of flowering plants since it allows the transfer of male reproductive cells to the female reproductive cells.

The process of pollination is achieved by various means including wind, birds, insects, and other animals. There are several instances whereby bees and butterflies land in flowers to feed on the nectar and by doing so transfer pollen grains from one flower to another flower. In case the process of pollination has been successful, then it results in the formation of seeds in crops and fruits. I can boldly say that the process of pollination is very essential for the reproduction and survival of plants because many crops depend on pollinators.

It is among the very important processes in agriculture as it ensures the survival of plants, ensures good growth and generation of seeds and crops of other plants. Many crops depend on pollination to survive and they are mostly done by insects such as bees and butterflies.

1. Increases crop yield - it enables plants to produce many fruits and seeds, thus giving a bountiful harvest.

2. Improves the quality of the seed and fruit - the presence of good pollination can enable plants to bear large and healthy fruits.

3. Helps in food production - many crops depend on pollination for the production of food for plants and animals.

4. Plant reproduction - it enables plants to reproduce and also to ensure population of plants.

5. Supports biodiversity - the aspect of pollination is also one of the aspects that helps in ensuring longevity of crops in the ecosystem.
