Today I would like to share my experience of visiting Cox's Bazar Sea Beach, one of the most famous tourist destinations in Bangladesh.

I have visited Cox's Bazar once before, but I still have a strong desire to visit again. My previous visit gave me the opportunity to enjoy some of its natural beauty, but I feel that I need to stay for a few more days next time so that I can explore the beach and its surrounding areas in more detail.

Cox's Bazar is widely known as the world's longest natural sandy sea beach, stretching along the southeastern coast of Bangladesh. It is one of the country's most popular tourist destinations, attracting both local and foreign visitors throughout the year.

What makes this place special to me is the combination of the huge sandy beach, the sound of the waves, traditional fishing boats, colorful umbrellas, sea breeze and beautiful views of sunrise and sunset.

Location and First Impression

The wide sandy shore and gentle waves of Cox's Bazar Beach.

Cox's Bazar Sea Beach is located in Cox's Bazar district in southeastern Bangladesh. The beach is very large, and there are many different areas where visitors can enjoy the sea and surrounding scenery.

My first impression of the beach was amazing. The wide sandy shore and endless view of the sea created a feeling that was completely different from the busy environment of a city.

The traditional wooden boats along the beach look wonderful. These boats are closely connected with the lives of local fishermen and add a unique coastal character to the scenery.

The beach has a very wide sandy area, and walking beside the sea while listening to the sound of the waves is a wonderful experience.

The Beauty of the Beach

Colorful boats gathered along the shore, reflecting the simple beauty of coastal life.

The natural beauty of Cox's Bazar is the main reason why so many people visit this place. Early in the morning, the beach becomes especially peaceful. The cool breeze, calm atmosphere and soft morning light make it a beautiful time to walk around and take photographs.

Some colorful beach umbrellas and wooden chairs on the sandy shore.

There are also colorful umbrellas and chairs along different parts of the beach. Visitors can rent seats and spend some time relaxing while enjoying the sea view. One of my favorite things about Cox's Bazar is that the scenery changes throughout the day. The morning has a calm and peaceful atmosphere, while the afternoon becomes brighter and livelier. In the evening, the sunset creates an entirely different view.

There were many traditional boats scattered across the beach, but I particularly liked this view because of the coconut trees in this section.

The traditional boats were another attraction for me. I found the simple wooden boats particularly beautiful against the large open beach. There were many boats gathered along the shore. Their different colors made the beach look even more attractive. This was one of the views that caught my attention. A traditional boat standing on such a huge sandy beach created a very simple but beautiful scene.

I particularly liked this section of the beach because of the coconut trees. The combination of the trees, boats and sandy shore created a very attractive coastal landscape.

Sunrise and Sunset Experience

The sight of the sun in the western sky over the beach in the afternoon was delightful.

Cox's Bazar is also well known for its sunrise and sunset views. If you want to enjoy the sunrise, I would recommend going to the beach early in the morning. The early morning atmosphere is peaceful, and the soft sunlight creates beautiful photographic opportunities.

The sunset view at the beach is delightful to watch.

The sunset is another experience altogether. As the sun gradually moves toward the western horizon, the color of the sky and sea changes. I really enjoyed watching the afternoon sun over the beach. The light falling across the sea and sand created a beautiful atmosphere. Watching the sunset beside the sea is one of the experiences I would recommend to anyone visiting Cox's Bazar.

A purple twilight or sunset view over the sea.

After sunset, the sky can take on beautiful colors. I found this purple twilight view particularly peaceful. At night, sitting near the beach and listening to the sound of the waves is also a different kind of experience. I visited the beach at night as well, but I stayed close to the shore and in areas where other people were present.

Activities and Entertainment

Quad bike

There are many activities available for tourists at Cox's Bazar.

Visitors can walk along the beach, enjoy the sea water, take photographs and spend time relaxing beside the ocean. There are also several rides and recreational activities available in different areas.

Some of the activities that tourists may find include:

  • Horse riding
  • Quad bike riding
  • Parasailing
  • Speedboat rides
  • Other beach-based recreational activities

I personally did not take any of these rides during my visit, but they can make a trip more enjoyable for people who like adventure and outdoor activities.

The prices of these activities can vary depending on the tourist season, off-season and service provider. In some cases, negotiating the price may also be possible, so it is better to confirm the price before taking a ride.

How to Travel to Cox's Bazar

1000091786.jpg

Cox's Bazar can be reached from different parts of Bangladesh by bus, train and air.

There are many bus services operating on different routes to Cox's Bazar. Some special buses also provide AC and sleeper facilities, which can make the long journey more comfortable.

For a long-distance journey, however, I personally prefer travelling by train. The recently introduced direct railway connection between Dhaka and Cox's Bazar has made train travel more popular among tourists.

The train journey generally takes more than 8 hours, while travelling by air is much faster. A flight from Dhaka to Cox's Bazar generally takes a little over one hour, depending on the flight and conditions.

Based on the information available for my trip, the approximate train fares were:

Seat ClassFare per Person
Shovon Chair695 BDT
Snigdha1,325 BDT
AC Seat1,590 BDT
AC Berth2,380 BDT

Airfare from Dhaka to Cox's Bazar generally varies around 5,000 BDT–10,000 BDT, depending on the airline, booking time and travel date.

Sleeper bus fares can generally range from around 1,600 BDT–2,700 BDT, depending on the bus company and service quality.

Since transportation prices can change, I would recommend checking the latest fare before travelling.

For me, the train journey is the most enjoyable option because I like watching the scenery during a long train ride.

Hotel and Accommodation

1000080266.jpg
Hotel and resort near the Cox's Bazar Sea Beach.

Choosing the right hotel is another important part of travelling to Cox's Bazar.

Since many tourists travel from far away and may not be familiar with the area, it is better to plan accommodation before starting the journey.

The hotel where I stayed with my team was quite good, although unfortunately I do not remember the hotel name or have its card now.

One important lesson I learned is that tourists should be careful about hotel bookings and avoid relying on unknown brokers or commission-based agents.

After arriving at a bus terminal or station, you may encounter people offering very cheap hotel rooms or so-called special deals. It is better not to follow unknown people to a hotel without verifying the property first.

I think booking in advance through a reliable online platform or directly through the hotel's official contact number is a much safer option.

Before booking, you should also check:

  • The exact location of the hotel
  • Reviews from previous guests
  • Distance from the main beach
  • Room price
  • Service charges
  • Additional taxes
  • AC, Wi-Fi and hot-water facilities
  • Cancellation and refund policy
  • Check-in and check-out rules

Sometimes a hotel may advertise itself as being "near the beach", but the actual property can be considerably farther from the main beach area. Therefore, checking the location on Google Maps before booking is a good idea.

It is also important to carry the identification documents required by the hotel for check-in. If travelling as a couple or family, check the hotel's current documentation requirements before travelling.

I would also avoid paying the full amount for a non-refundable booking unless the reservation and cancellation terms are completely clear.

Food and Shopping

There are many restaurants around Cox's Bazar where tourists can enjoy different types of food, especially seafood.

If you want to eat seafood, there are plenty of restaurants offering fish and other sea-food dishes. However, I would recommend checking reviews on Google Maps or other reliable sources before choosing a restaurant.

The beach area also has many shops selling different products. Visitors can find:

  • Shutki (dried fish)
  • Chocolates
  • Shell and conch-based decorative items
  • Souvenirs
  • Clothing
  • Various small gifts and decorative products

I also bought a few packets of chocolate during my visit.

Shopping can be a nice part of the trip, but it is always better to check the price before purchasing something, especially in tourist areas.

Important Safety Tips

1000091504.jpg
A night view of the sea beach

Although Cox's Bazar is a beautiful tourist destination, visitors should always be careful around the sea.

The sea can become dangerous during high tide, rough weather or strong currents. Therefore, it is important to follow safety signs, stay within designated safe areas and listen to the instructions of lifeguards.

If you do not know how to swim, it is better not to go deep into the sea.

If you are travelling with children, never allow them to enter the water alone. Adults should stay close to children whenever they are near or inside the sea.

Another important issue is taking care of mobile phones, money and other valuables.

I would not recommend leaving your phone or money with an unknown person while going into the water. If you are travelling with a group, some members can stay behind with the belongings while others enjoy the water, and then you can take turns.

There are also people offering photography services around tourist areas. If you want to use such a service, agree on the price beforehand so there is no confusion later.

At night, extra caution is necessary. I also walked around the beach at night, but I stayed close to the shore and in places where other people were present.

It is better not to visit isolated areas alone at night. Staying in populated and well-lit areas or places with proper security is always safer.

What I Liked Most

A traditional wooden moon boat, also known as a sampan boat.

The thing I liked most about Cox's Bazar was its natural beauty.

The huge sandy beach, traditional fishing boats, coconut trees, sea breeze, waves and changing colors of the sky create a unique environment.

I also enjoyed the fact that the beach looks different at different times of the day. Early morning feels peaceful, afternoon is bright and lively, sunset is colorful, and nighttime brings the calming sound of the sea.

The traditional boats were another thing that caught my attention. They give the beach a strong connection with the local coastal lifestyle.

For someone who enjoys photography, nature and the sea, I think Cox's Bazar offers plenty of opportunities to capture beautiful moments.

A traditional boat standing on a vast beach. I found this view particularly captivating.

Overall, my visit to Cox's Bazar Sea Beach was one of the best travel experiences I have had.

Although I have already visited Cox's Bazar once, I still want to go there again. During my next visit, I would like to stay for several days and explore the beach and surrounding attractions more thoroughly.

The natural beauty of the beach was truly captivating. From the peaceful early morning atmosphere to the beautiful sunset and the sound of the waves at night, every part of the experience has something special.

The traditional boats, colorful umbrellas, and simple lifestyle associated with the coastal region are fascinating to see.

At the same time, I believe tourists should travel responsibly. Paying attention to sea safety, taking care of personal belongings, choosing accommodation carefully and avoiding unknown brokers can make the trip much safer and more enjoyable.

If you are planning a trip to Bangladesh and want to experience the sea, nature, sunset and coastal life, Cox's Bazar is certainly a place worth visiting.

I have already visited once, but I hope to return again soon, this time for a longer stay so that I can enjoy and explore its beauty more deeply.

Pros

  • Beautiful natural scenery
  • Huge sandy beach
  • Excellent sunrise and sunset views
  • Traditional fishing boats and coastal scenery
  • Many tourist activities and rides
  • Plenty of restaurants and seafood options
  • Many hotels and resorts
  • Shopping opportunities around the beach
  • Suitable for photography
  • Beautiful atmosphere both day and evening

Cons

  • The beach can become very crowded during peak tourist seasons
  • Sea conditions can sometimes be dangerous
  • Ride prices may vary and should be confirmed beforehand
  • Hotel prices can increase during peak seasons
  • Tourists need to be careful about brokers and unknown hotel offers
  • Personal belongings require extra attention around the beach
  • Some areas may not be suitable for visiting alone at night

Hola amigo !!!

Hi, my friend!

Thank you so much for your kind words and for your interesting questions. Yes, there is definitely a difference between local and international tourists. Since this is the longest uninterrupted natural sandy beach in the world, I think international travelers may feel even more excited about visiting it. Traveling such a long distance and coming to another country to experience such a beautiful place is also a special way of appreciating it.

I have also noticed that international travelers often share very detailed and beautiful reviews after visiting Cox’s Bazar. However, local tourists are definitely more numerous. Almost everyone in Bangladesh wants to visit this place at least once in their lifetime.

Regarding the length, Cox’s Bazar sea beach is approximately 120 kilometers long. It is one of the main reasons why this destination is so special and attractive to tourists.

As you mentioned, because it is such a famous tourist destination, it can become quite crowded, especially during holidays and peak tourist seasons. Still, there are quieter areas where visitors can enjoy the sea and natural beauty more peacefully.

I hope you will also get the chance to visit this beautiful place one day. You are always welcome to visit Cox’s Bazar and experience its beauty yourself.

Thank you again for your thoughtful comment. I’m glad you enjoyed my presentation of this beautiful destination.
