Improving Steemit.com: Small Features That Could Make Posting Easier
Assalamu Alaikum everyone,
I really enjoy creating posts and sharing my experiences on Steemit. It is a great platform where we can express our thoughts, share photographs, participate in contests, and connect with people from different countries. However, I think there are a few features that could make the posting experience much easier and more comfortable for users.
For this challenge, I would like to share three feature ideas that I believe could improve Steemit.
Undo and Redo Options in the Post Editor
One problem I sometimes worry about while writing a post is losing my written content accidentally. Sometimes, a mistake or an unexpected action can cause text to disappear, and recovering it is not always easy.
I would love to see Undo and Redo buttons added to the Steemit post editor. The Undo option would allow users to reverse their last action, while Redo would help restore an action that was undone by mistake. An automatic draft-saving feature would also be useful because it could protect our writing if the page accidentally closes or reloads.
I think this would be especially helpful for users who write long posts with multiple photographs, headings, and formatting.
A Post Scheduling Feature
Another feature I would like to see is the ability to schedule posts for a specific date and time.
For example, if I finish writing a post today but want to publish it tomorrow morning, I could select the date and time instead of waiting to publish it manually. This would be useful for contest participants, community members, and curators who need to publish content regularly.
Scheduling could also help users from different time zones publish their posts at a convenient time for their audiences. Users could review, edit, or cancel a scheduled post before it goes live.
An Option to Remove a Resteem
I also think Steemit should provide an option to remove a resteem.
Sometimes, we resteem a post to support a contest or share something useful with our followers. However, a contest may end after seven days, or we may later decide that a particular post no longer needs to remain on our blog. Currently, users may find it difficult to remove a resteem once it has been made.
An option such as “Remove Resteem” would give users more control over their blogs. It could remove the shared post from their personal feed without affecting the original author's post, rewards, or ownership.
Of course, this feature should be designed carefully so that removing a resteem does not interfere with the original post or its creator.
Who Could Develop These Features?
I believe the Steemit development team could implement these features by improving the existing editor and user interface. The Undo/Redo and scheduling options might require some backend changes as well, particularly for saving drafts and publishing posts automatically.
Community feedback could help developers decide which features should be prioritized. They could also introduce these improvements gradually and collect feedback before making them available to everyone.
Would People Use These Features?
I believe many existing users would find them useful. People who write long articles, participate in weekly contests, manage communities, or publish content regularly could benefit from these improvements.
These features might also make Steemit more attractive to new users. A reliable editor and convenient publishing tools would make the platform easier to use, especially for people who are already familiar with other blogging and social media platforms.
I enjoy using Steemit, and I would like to see it become even more user-friendly. In my opinion, small improvements can make a big difference in our daily experience. Undo/Redo, scheduled publishing, and the ability to remove a resteem may seem like simple features, but they could save time and prevent unnecessary frustration.
These are just my thoughts as a user. There may be other technical improvements that I am not aware of, and I would also love to hear ideas from developers and other community members.
What features would you like to see added to Steemit?
