No sé.

Quizás simplemente sea yo misma.

Un grano de arena
yo, en este vasto mundo
simplemente soy

Being Myself?

After so many years, I assumed I already knew exactly who I was. But when I started thinking about what I could write for this contest, I realized it wasn’t that simple.

I could say that I’m a wife, a mother, a grandmother, a retiree, an amateur photographer, a writer for pure pleasure, and a Steemian for years now.

All of that is true.
But I’m also the woman who can take twenty photos of the same tree because I’m convinced that one of them has to be the good one. And then I get home and realize I don’t want to delete any of them because I like them all.

I’m a simple person, family-oriented, and absolutely loyal to my friends—who are few but lifelong.
I imagine that, like everyone else, I have my quirks, my contradictions, and those things I do simply because that’s who I am. The truth is, I don’t plan on changing—I’m just this way.

I’ve never felt the need to be like anyone else. That also means I don’t usually follow fads or trends, and that I’m probably a bit of a rebel.

Lately, I’ve started letting go of things that used to be very valuable to me. Age and experience have made me realize that nothing I leave behind in this world will matter to others in the same way it mattered to me.

So, instead of leaving problems behind, I prefer to leave freedom.
Maybe that’s why I now go through life filling my gaze with the things I love, taking pictures of them, and making up stories about them.

I have many flaws. One of the most surprising is that I don’t like to cook. And if I do, it’s out of sheer necessity.

I admire people who enjoy cooking because I feel that cooking is also a form of devotion to others. They put time, love, and effort into creating something special.

I’m sorry, but I can’t spend the whole morning cooking only to have it all disappear in five minutes.
I’m becoming more and more convinced that I can spend that time on other things.

Selfishness?

Rebellion?

One of my many quirks?

I don’t know.
Maybe I’m just being myself.

A grain of sand
me, in this vast world
I simply am
