Making a cute Clay Doll — my new Clay Art

Today I am sharing another of my clay art with you. This time I have tried to make a cute little doll. The picture clearly shows the different stages of its making, so I have only included the steps that are visible in the pictures.

Step 1 — Head and Neck

First, a round head of the doll was made with colored clay and a small neck was added below it. Mines were also built on both sides.

Step 2 — Body and Collar

In the next step, the body is made of white clay and a pink collar is applied around the neck. This revealed the initial shape of the doll's body.

Step 3 — Skirt

Now the skirt of the doll is made from dark blue clay. The skirt was attached to the lower part of the body and given a slight detailing.

Step 4 — Arms

After that, pink colored arms were added on both sides. Small parts were also made for the hands, making the doll's body complete.

Step 5 — Legs and Shoes

In the next picture, the doll's legs are made separately. Brown boots with white parts were made, which were later attached to the body.

Step 6 — Hair and Face

Finally hair is made with pink clay and braids are given on both sides. Then the eyes, eyebrows and mouth were added. A small decorative detail was also made on the front of the dress.

My movement

My inspiration for this clay art was to make a small and cheerful doll in which different colors look beautiful together. What I find most interesting when working with clay is how a simple shape can be slowly transformed into a complete character. I especially liked the combination of pink hair, pink arms, blue skirt and brown shoes. Finally, after adding the small facial details, the doll's character felt complete.

Conclusion

This was the step by step journey of making my clay doll. I started with the head and body, then added the skirt, arms, legs, shoes, hair and finally the face details.
