Assalamu Alaikum friends, how is everyone? I am doing well, Alhamdulillah. Wishing everyone good health, I am starting this post. This is the first time I have created something out of clay. There is a unique joy in crafting with clay. While it is generally easy to work with, not every clay creation is simple to make. However, the flower I have crafted here is very easy to make. Let’s find out how I made it and what kind of clay I used.

Materials

  • Clay (specifically, sticky/heavy clay).
  • Fabric colors:
  • Red.
  • Yellow.
  • Gold.
  • Silver.
  • Green.
  • Light green.
  • Blue.

Method of Creation

Step 1: First, I soften the clay using my hands. Since this type of clay tends to harden if left sitting, I mix in a little water and knead it until it is soft and pliable.

Step 2: Taking a small amount of clay, I shape it into a flat, square piece resembling a diamond-shaped sweet (barfi).

Step 3: Once the plaque is ready, I prepare a few small, round clay balls to create some flowers.

Step 4: First, I place a round ball onto the plaque to form the center of the flower and use a nail to draw lines.

Step 5: To make the flower petals, roll small balls of clay and flatten them with your hands. Once the petals are shaped, attach them one by one using a little water.

Step 6: To create the stem, take a small amount of clay, roll it between your hands to form a thin shape, and attach it using water.

Step 7: To make the leaves, shape the clay into a ball, flatten it with your hand, and attach it using water. Once the entire flower is assembled, let it dry in the sun for three days.

Step 8: Once the flower has dried, I paint it using fabric colors. I apply red to the petals and yellow to the center, followed by a light brushing of gold over the flower. I paint the leaves green and the stem a light, fresh-green shade. I add silver accents here and there, and paint the fruit blue.

This is how the flower looks after painting. Please let me know what you think of this clay flower I’ve created. After painting it, it looked lifelike, though it is actually made of clay. This was my first attempt; please let me know if there are any mistakes so I can correct them next time. Thank you all for reading my diary entry. Wishing everyone good health, I’ll sign off here—stay well and healthy.

Thank you for recognizing this artwork of mine.

#s34engagement

You have shared a truly wonderful post. Nowadays, it is rare to see items made from clay. There was a time when many such objects were crafted—partly to preserve our traditions—but today, one hardly ever sees them being made. The fact that you took the initiative to create something like this for the first time, investing so much time and effort, is highly commendable. Furthermore, the way you allowed it to dry and then finished it with such beautiful colors is something I really appreciate. Best wishes to you!
