SVM Testnet Update: v0.0.6 (Final Pre-Mainnet Upgrade) Rolling Out Tonight
Hi everyone,
As we cross yet another massive milestone on the Steem Virtual Machine (SVM) testnet, the finish line for our testing phase is officially in sight. The network continues to operate with absolute perfection, and today I am announcing the final, critical step in our roadmap before we transition to Mainnet.
Tonight, I will be officially rolling out v0.0.6, the final coordinated software upgrade for the SVM testnet.
Network Health and Current Metrics
First, a quick look at the network's current state. The SVM blockchain remains in a state of absolute perfection. The consensus layer has not missed a beat, and block production continues with the instant finality and reliability that will define the mainnet experience.
Current Testnet Statistics:
- Total Block Height: 795,370+
- Average Block Time: ~5.4 seconds
- Active Validators: 11 / 11 (100% Online)
Crossing nearly 800,000 blocks with zero unplanned network halts is the ultimate proof of concept. The infrastructure is robust, secure, and undeniably production-ready.
Preview: What is Coming in v0.0.6?
This upgrade is specifically tailored to finalize the bridge and DeFi infrastructure for the Mainnet launch. While the exact governance proposal and staging instructions will be published later today, here is a preview of what v0.0.6 introduces:
1. Advanced Oracle Enhancements
The validator-run oracle network is the lifeblood of the Sherpa Protocol and the SVM bridge. v0.0.6 introduces deeper optimizations to the oracle client's data aggregation and commit-reveal protocols. These updates ensure that price feeds and bridge attestations remain hyper-accurate, low-latency, and resilient against network congestion as we prepare for mainnet trading volumes.
2. Multisig and Bridge Infrastructure Updates
As previously announced, the @svm.bank account has been transitioned to a multisig architecture. v0.0.6 introduces the underlying chain-level logic and state-machine updates required to support dynamic multisig weight distribution. This lays the critical groundwork for the mainnet feature where bridge signing power will automatically scale based on the amount of STEEM staked by each validator, managed dynamically via their oracle clients.
3. Final Mainnet Parameter Lock-ins
This binary includes the final, definitive consensus and economic parameters that will be carried over into the Mainnet genesis state.
⚠️ Validator Preparation: Stand By for Tonight
Because this is a coordinated, state-breaking upgrade, every validator will need to stage the v0.0.6 binary to avoid downtime and jailing.
Please do not attempt to update your nodes just yet.
Later today/tonight, I will publish the official governance proposal (which will include the exact target upgrade block height) along with the finalized UPGRADE_v0.0.6.md documentation. Once the proposal is live, I will provide the exact git commands and Docker pull instructions to stage the binary safely.
Please keep an eye on the SVM operator channels and my Steemit feed for the official rollout instructions tonight.
The Final Countdown to Mainnet
With v0.0.6 rolling out tonight, the SVM testnet will have officially completed its developmental lifecycle. We have successfully tested:
- EVM execution and Cosmos SDK consensus
- Cross-chain bridge mechanics and the
@svm.bankmultisig - The Sherpa Protocol DeFi suite (swaps, liquidity, lending)
- Instant block finality under high load
- Coordinated governance and seamless binary upgrades
Once v0.0.6 is successfully executed and stabilized across the validator set, we will initiate the final Mainnet Genesis protocol. The finish line is here.
Testnet Disclaimer
Important Reminder: The Steem Virtual Machine (SVM) is currently in its final testnet phase. All testnet assets are purely for testing the consensus, EVM execution, and bridge layers. There is no real-world monetary value attached to this chain or its assets.
Thank you to the active validator set for your flawless execution of every upgrade thus far. Your diligence in maintaining and updating your nodes is what has made this testnet phase a resounding success. Get ready for the final push tonight!
