SVM Testnet Update: 821K+ Blocks, v0.0.6 Private Testnet Launched for Final Mainnet Validation
Hi everyone,
As we enter the absolute final stages of the Steem Virtual Machine (SVM) development lifecycle, I am thrilled to share a major operational milestone. The public testnet continues to run smoothly, and behind the scenes, we are executing the final, critical validation steps required before we flip the switch to Mainnet.
Network Health and Current Metrics
The SVM public testnet remains highly resilient and continues to process transactions securely.
Current Public Testnet Statistics:
- Total Blocks Produced: 821,690+
- Total Transactions: 46,597+
- Average Block Time: ~6.9 seconds
- Active Validators: 9 / 11
Note on Block Time: You may notice the average block time has slightly increased to 6.9 seconds (up from our usual 5.3–5.5s). This is a natural and expected mathematical consequence of having 2 validators currently offline. In our round-robin consensus model, when a validator misses their slot, the network simply waits for the next active validator in the queue, slightly extending the block interval. The chain remains perfectly healthy, secure, and is producing blocks without interruption.
Major Announcement: v0.0.6 Private Testnet is Live
Today, I have officially spun up v0.0.6 on a separate, isolated private testnet.
Because v0.0.6 is the final coordinated upgrade before we snapshot the network and launch Mainnet, it introduces the most critical state-machine changes yet: the dynamic multisig weight distribution for the @svm.bank bridge and the final, locked-in economic parameters.
In enterprise-grade blockchain development, the final pre-mainnet release must be stress-tested in a controlled, isolated environment before being exposed to the public network.
Why a Private Testnet?
- Stress-Testing Bridge Logic: We are actively simulating high-volume bridge transactions and oracle price-feed updates to ensure the new dynamic multisig weighting scales perfectly under load.
- Zero Public Risk: By testing this on a private net first, we guarantee that the public testnet (and our active validators) experience zero disruption while we squash any final edge-case bugs.
- Mainnet Rehearsal: This private environment is acting as our final dress rehearsal for the Mainnet genesis sequence.
Next Steps: Upgrading the Public Testnet
Once the v0.0.6 binary passes all stress tests on the private testnet, we will initiate the upgrade on the public testnet. This will be the final upgrade test before Mainnet.
⚠️ Instruction for Public Testnet Validators
Please do not attempt to update your public nodes just yet.
Hold your current v0.0.5 binaries and continue producing blocks. As soon as the private testnet validation is complete (likely in the next 24 to 48 hours), I will publish the official governance proposal, the target upgrade block height, and the exact git and Docker commands required to stage v0.0.6 on the public network.
The Finish Line is Here
We have spent months hardening this network. We've survived coordinated halts, patched upstream EVM vulnerabilities, deployed 28 verified DeFi smart contracts, and secured the bridge via multisig.
Testing v0.0.6 in isolation is the final hurdle. Once this is validated and deployed to the public testnet, the SVM codebase will be officially frozen and ready for the Mainnet Genesis launch.
Testnet Disclaimer
Important Reminder: The Steem Virtual Machine (SVM) is currently in its final testnet phase. All testnet assets are purely for testing the consensus, EVM execution, and bridge layers. There is no real-world monetary value attached to this chain or its assets.
Thank you to the 9 active validators for keeping the public network humming while we finalize the v0.0.6 architecture behind the scenes. Your patience and dedication are what make this launch possible. Keep an eye out for the public upgrade instructions soon!
