The Diary Game [11/09/2026]:From Bone-Straight To Bouncy Waves,Handling an Unexpected Rush Order!

As hair stylists and wig makers, we all know that this business comes with its own unexpected drama, plot twists, and quick problem-solving. Today, I’m sharing a behind-the-scenes look at how a simple styling session turned into a race against the clock.

A few days ago, one of my lovely customers brought her wig to me. It was a bone-straight wig, but she wanted a completely new look. She asked me to transform it into a gorgeous, bouncy wavy unit. I accepted the task with excitement because styling and bringing hair back to life is what I love to do.

To achieve those crisp, defined waves without destroying the quality of the hair, I went in with flexi rod rollers. I carefully rolled the entire unit section by section. The plan was simple: let it sit and air-dry naturally so the curls would set properly and hold their shape for a very long time.

Now, here is where the plot twisted! My client hadn't given me a specific time frame for pickup, so I assumed I had plenty of time to let nature do its job. But just this evening, she walked in smiling, ready to take her hair home.

I looked at her, then looked at the wig, and said, "Ah, madam! The hair is not dry yet oh! It's still wet inside the rollers and not ready for the final unraveling and styling." She laughed and explained that an urgent event came up, and she needed to wear the hair tomorrow morning.

Leaving it to dry naturally was no longer an option. As a professional, you can't just send a client away with wet hair, nor can you unroll wet hair unless you want to end up with a frizzy, ruined pattern. So, I had to activate plan B: manual heat drying!

I grabbed my blow dryer, set it to the right temperature to ensure I didn't heat-damage the strands, and began targeted drying directly over the flexi rods.

It took patience, focused heat, and careful monitoring to make sure every single roller section was completely bone-dry down to the core. After a good session with the hand dryer, the hair was finally ready for unrolling. I started taking out the rollers one by one from the back, slowly revealing the deep, luscious wave pattern beneath.

Seeing those tight, juicy waves drop down was so satisfying! Even though we rushed the drying process with heat, the curls came out defined, shiny, and full of volume.

Once every single rod was out, I went in with my fingers and a wide-tooth comb to gently separate the curls, style the front closure area, and give the unit that effortless, luxurious flow.

What started as an unexpected rush turned into a complete success! My customer left the salon extremely happy, relieved, and ready to slay her event tomorrow.
